I know some mamas have a fetal doppler at home to ease worries. I'm kind of interested, but clueless about it all 
So here are my questions for anyone that's had one.
Did you rent or buy?
How much did it cost?
Did you get it from a store or online?
Was it easy to find the heartbeat?
Overall, was it worth it?

We didn't get one. I know myself well enough to know that it would just freak me out more. I heard you don't always easily find the heartbeat.

I have a decent one at work for animals, but have avoided using it regularly because it was difficult to find and I think it would just cause more panic if I couldn't find a heartbeat. The one at work costs around 1k, so I have been reluctant to see whats out there on the human market since I have doubts over their quality.
I can find the heartbeat fairly easily with a regular cheapie stethoscope, but again avoid it so I don't freak myself out.

I considered buying one, you can find a decent one meant for at home use for under $100 on ebay. I ended up not buying one, but I am able to borrow the one from LDR at work whenever I want, and I use it about once a week or so (or I did, until I started feeling consistent movement).

I have one and love it! I have the sonoline B which was about $50 which I thought was a reasonable price. I got it online and found it very user friendly. They have alot of tutorials online which will help you be able to tell the difference between your heartbeat and the babys. I have found it to be comforting for the most part however there were a couple instances I couldn't find the HB and got nervous.

I also bought the Sonoline B online for about $50. I watched a couple of videos on YouTube about finding the heartbeat. It took about 10 minutes to find the first time I used it at 10 weeks. After that I was able to find the heartbeat relatively easily.
I definitely think it was worth it. It eased my mind. I haven't used it since I've been feeling the baby kick regularly, but I love the sound of her heartbeat

Like a few others I got the Sonoline B. I bought it on Ebay for close to $60, but it came with lots of gel.
It was surprisingly easy to find the heartbeat. I think I was in my 10th week. There was only one day where I couldn't find it for quite a while. I took a break, had a shower, drank a lot of water and when I was done tried again and boom it was right there!

I never got one. I would like one, but also, if I didn't do it right or something, and couldn't find a heartbeat, it would REALLY freak me out! And I could also see myself doing nothing but sitting on the couch with it on me

1. i bought a sonoline b
2. it cost about $59/tax and shipping included

4. took awhile finding the heartbeats (i bought it around 8 weeks and change... found it around 10 weeks)... i think we weren't looking low enough in the beginning.
5. TOTALLY worth it. for me, since i had a previous miscarriage, i was very nervous about this pregnancy. especially since i'm having twins. we listened to it about once or twice a week during the first trimester and it gave us such peace of mind. my husband was so against it in the beginning but once we started hearing the heartbeats, he was totally on board.

I got a Sonoline B, too, for around $50 on ebay, I think it actually may have been cheaper, but I can't remember. It took a while at first to find the heartbeat at around 10 weeks, but once I did, I LOVED using it and checked her heartbeat every day until I could feel her moving around. The place to find the heartbeat is super low, almost to the...ahem, hairline, and I had more luck on the left side. Just go slowly, poke your stomach with it firmly, and sort of turn it slowly until you pick up the pulse. If you want to make sure you're not hearing yours, what I always did was put the wand on my chest really quickly to hear my own heartbeat and how much slower it was. I found having one at home very worth it

Thanks for all the info everyone! I really appreciate it. From my initial research, it looked like they were a lot more expensive, but about $50 to purchase is super reasonable!
I got to hear the heartbeats (instead of just seeing them) for the first time yesterday, and it was so sweet! I think I'd be totally addicted to the doppler if I had one at home

I borrowed my sis in laws. Definitely worth it. Since I never "felt" pregnant in the beginng (like most people)...so I liked it for that additional peace of mind.

@MerryC: yup! we were able to find the heartbeats for both babies! even with one that had anterior placenta (maybe it's not that anterior). luckily, they were in 2 different spots, so i could tell they were 2 distinct heartbeats.
don't forget, you have a few pulses (i found at least 3 different spots with my heartbeat) running through your belly area too. just put your fingers to your neck to see if it's the same beat.

I'm seriously considering one of these as I'm a little over 8 weeks pregnant. I won't see the baby again until 13 weeks. I just want reassurance that our baby's okay.

@tequiero21: I just bought it off of eBay with gel included was a little above $60. It should get here quickly since it's shipping from the same city it originates from. I just need that peace of mind that our jellybean is doing okay. I hate that I have to wait until 2/13!

@tequiero21: Definitely. What's weird is that today, I'm tired, but not too nauseous. I get weird if I'm not experiencing everything. I can still smell everything under the sun and gag galore. First trimester is the toughest for sure.
