@JennyLayneAZ: congratulations!!
Ugh I'm out of town visiting a friend and she wanted to go out for drinks so I could meet her new guy. I've been trying not to drink, even though logically I know before implantation it's not as big a deal... But I also didn't want to say anything, so I got a cider and nursed it the whole time. Drank maybe half the bottle? I'm officially insane from ttc!

@yellowbeach: I don't think so, how it's not a fibro flare or migraine.

@yellowbeach: @Sams Mom:
So, I decided to check in this morning because I hadn't been receiving any alerts for the board. It has been super slow for the last few days so, I thought nothing of it. I then realized, there had been activity but I hadn't been alerted on my phone. The selection for an alert was still on ... so I checked my email again (specifically my SPAM box) AND THERE were the alerts! I do apologize for not being present. I thought the board went silent! π€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈπ€¦ββοΈ
As for me, I have been keeping busy the last few days. DD starts school, DS will begin his program in September, and my courses will begin soon. I am contemplating whether or not to continue teaching after this semester or waiting the year out. That is a decision for another day though.
I have not taken another test [as I am waiting for my ICs and/or FRERs to come in] but I did call OSOM (their San Diego branch) and inquired about poor batches. The woman stated she was unaware of full batches being tainted but has heard of specific tests [that have gone out in the last 6 months] having a few "poor tests" that produce darkened indents which may mimic very faint positives. She apologized if I had taken such a test, asked for my batch number, and then her solution to ameliorate the situation was to send me a $5.00 off coupon towards my next purchase. I "guess" it is better than nothing, eh? π€·ββοΈ
My chart looks promising (but then again, I have had a bevy of charts "look promising" yet end up with a dud cycle. π). I will affix it for your perusal. In all honesty, as much as I hope and pray to be pregnant, I am hyper-aware of our poor timing this cycle, so I am more accepting of a possible BFN. For that reason [and an IUI if I can properly stim next cycle π€], I'm not super stressed [for once ].

How come I have never HEARD of THIS?!?!?
This is a POAS addict's dream (albeit a bit expensive)! I can't find it selling anywhere, though.

@Kaohinani: It's great to hear you're super stressed! I'm still hopeful for you though, stranger things have happened, right?
That test looks like it means business!
My first week back at work after vacation has passed super fast. I have been clearing up some of my things that have accumulated over the past few years and getting ready to wrap things up in the end of the month.
My SO has his next appointment in a week, I hope they do some more testing and find something they can treat so we wouldn't have to go straight to IVF. One can hope...

@paranundrum: Thanks. After dealing with the stress of "will DH be home in time to BD," I have been super relaxed this cycle. It will be whatever it will be and it is too late for me to change fate. I'm just looking forward to my IUI.
I am glad your transition at work is going so well. π€ I should really follow suit and purge some of my "stuff" as well. π
In response to your SO's testing - I cannot remember if he had low motility, numbers, or problems with morphology- but, with my exhusband, all of his numbers were low AND he suffered from delayed ejaculation WITH retrograde flow. He was placed on a multivitamin, zinc, folate, Clomid (which can be used for fertility issues in both women and men), as well as, cyproheptadine (sp?) for his delay. It did help him and we did fall pregnant but it resulted in an early loss. In any case, the treatment helped and we found that I "could" get pregnant. Perhaps, you (or SO, if he is so inclined) could request the Clomid and he could take the vitamins. Keep in mind, it takes 30-60 days to see the best sperm quality. Good luck and I look forward to an update.
clementine / 811 posts
@Kaohinani: The thing with his issues - you name it, he has it. At least the three main factors they look for are all problematic, that's why they said we should go straight to IVF.
It's good to hear you had some success with meds, that gives me hope.
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@paranundrum: Had I not fallen pregnant, we were being urged to move onto IVF at well. At 21, I did not wish to go that route until we exhausted all treatment for him. My numbers (AMH, P4, E2, FSH, LH, and testosterone) were stellar at the time but he had so many issues that they were looking to manually extract his semen, wash it, and move us straight to IVF. I was grateful that the vitamins and medications solved the issue (even if I never had a sticky BFP with him). I know this is unsolicited advice (so please, forgive me) but were I you, I would inquire about the vitamins and Clomid for him ... they really helped my ex with his number, motility, and morphology. Besides, while waiting for IVF (in November), it wouldn't hurt to have an edge in increasing the viability of his fertility. Just my opinion--- feel free to disregard it if you choose.
clementine / 811 posts
@Kaohinani: Oh I will ask, I really would like try everything else before turning to IVF. We're still on the waiting list, what's better than exploring all other options to pass the time.
Thank you for the advice, I wouldn't have thought of that myself.

@yellowbeach: Oh, no!
I didn't know you were going to have an ERA. π€
nectarine / 2648 posts
@Kaohinani: Updated over on the IVF board... sought a 2nd opinion and she recommended an ERA. Said she would have done after our second failed FET of a PGS normal embryo. My current RE's partner does them often and is willing to do it for us, so we'll do that this cycle then depending on results proceed with transfer of some of our remaining three embryos.
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@yellowbeach: Wow, I'm glad you got the second opinion AND that the RE's partner will do it. Are you not going with your RE for any particular reason? (* I know, I know, I'm probably asking a question you already covered and I should just creepy-peep on the IVF board ... Huh? π€π€¦ββοΈ
). In any case, I read up on ERAs for fertility a few months back so this is interesting to me ... I try to be uber-informed before I begin ANYTHING and this pertained to IVF (which may be on my fertility menu if the IUI doesn't take.)
Now I am more invested in the subject since you will be having one.

@JennyLayneAZ: Hi, lady! Sorry I missed your update a few days back, the alerts were sent to my SPAM mail. π€¦ββοΈ How's it going "on the other side" (aka "Mama's Board." )?
nectarine / 2690 posts
@Kaohinani: Hey, no worries. It's quiet over there lol there are only 3 of us on the April board. Hopefully we get an influx of BFPs from you ladies
I have my first doctor appointment 8/30 (@7 weeks) so that seems like an eternity away. I don't remember if I told you guys, but, by my calculations (OV date), my EDD is my daughters birthday lol not that I'll make it that far (probably repeat C-section) but I thought that was funny.
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@JennyLayneAZ: All wonderful news!
That is amazing that your EDD is your DD's birthday! Oddly enough, if I were (by the Grace of God) to actually fall pregnant this cycle, my EDD would be 23 April which happens to be DH's and my anniversary! (My expectations are so low this cycle, but I am hopeful and would love my 3rd to have that due date!
)

@Kaohinani: that was my EDD for DD1, she decided to come a few days early (thank goodness, I was so done lol)

@yellowbeach: I'm sorry to hear about the negative beta numbers, you must feel disappointed... Here's to following along on your next steps. Rooting for you!
Today was a really exciting day for me, I had a job interview, and was offered the position! I decided to ride the positive waves and take a test, even though it is way early and I only have Amazon cheapies, but it still felt like a bummer to see the BFN! Guess I have to learn patience.

@MoonMoon: Congratulations! π₯³ That is phenomenal news! (I am sorry to read of your BFN; however elated of your job offer.) So exciting!

To ANYONE still on this board (*echoes* "... Board, board, board, boooaarrrd!" ) -
DH and I had some "mommy-daddy time" (π€£) bc G was napping and T wasn't home yet from school. He commented that he could barely feel my cervix because it was so high. He then stated it was similar to when I am ovulatory. (Kudos to him for noticing.
) When checking in past cycles, I have noticed my cervix is highly variable (anything from high/medium to medium/hard or even low/hard) at 11 or 12 dpo... so much so that I have abandoned checking!). I did check a bit after he commented and it IS so high that I can't reach it.
My question to natural fertility tracking pros: Is it normal for a cervix to be so high post ovulation? (I DEFINITELY ovulated and have had a beautiful post ovulatory shift so I am wondering if it is an anomaly.) Help?
pomegranate / 3393 posts
@Kaohinani: thank you! It will be on an ICU unit, so very new, but I'm excited. It would be cool to add a BFP to the day, but that's just getting greedy, haha.

@Kaohinani: My RE isn't a believer in ERA, and therefore doesn't do many of them. His partner does a lot more of them, so I think she's just more comfortable with the biopsy procedure. That or my RE is fed up with me and kicked it to her
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@yellowbeach: Doesn't "believe in it?!?!" That statement always frustrates me as, how can one "not believe" in something that exists, has been studied, or can be proven? Ugh! (Sorry for my tangent and frustration ... I had the same excuse from 1 neurologist and a pain Mgt physician who "didn't believe" Fibro existed and that people in chronic pain needed to seek a better analysis for figuring out a definitive "catalyst" for feeling pain. *smacks forehead on table - REPEATEDLY* π€¦ββοΈββοΈπ
)
Anyway, I am sure he isn't sick of you (if not because you ARE flipping AWESOME, it would be because you have probably financed him a yacht by now with all of your visits. π€ ). Is he a medical traditionalist while his associate more able to apply a "continued education" approach? From the way it sounds, doing the ERA seems out of his comfort zone. I can see why you would trust his associate more for the procedure... Would you consider going to the associate from now on if she is capable, embraces continued education, and has a better physician-patient interaction than your current RE?
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@yellowbeach: I just reread my last post to you from yesterday. One statement stood out as, depending on the person, they may read it many different ways. I did not mean to say that you literally helped your dr pay for a yacht as that could come across callused. It was never intended that way. I was trying to inject humor into a serious subject and used a phrase I often use to make light of my OWN experience with specialists (ex, "I see my Neurologist so often. I have financed his yacht," or, "My Rheumatologist has seen me enough times this past year ... I believe I paid off his school loans," and, the one I had just used yesterday morning in conversation: "My RE's kids are taken care of for life, I think I just paid for one to get braces!") Honestly, my comment reflected nothing on you or your experience with your RE, it was my feeble attempt [fail] at making the subject a bit lighter. In hindsight, I realize it was ill-placed in my response, especially since you may not have understood the context from where I had pulled it from. In any case, please accept my deepest heartfelt apology.
nectarine / 2648 posts
@Kaohinani: oh donβt worry - I literally LOLed at that one. Thankfully weβve had insurance coverage these last few rounds but if you added it up... oh man.
As for your original post last night, I was working so couldnβt respond in a timely manner but appreciate the feedback. My RE is older and experienced (20+ years). Heβs conservative and waits until tests and technology are proven to adopt them into his routine practice. I agree with him - ERA has mixed data and is expensive. I think his partner came out of Fellowship as ERA was becoming more mainstream and is more comfortable with it and has done more. Taking all of this one step at a time from here on out.

On a side note, yβall inspired me to get a menstrual cup and try it for the first time. Need to read the directions or watch a YouTube video on how to use it, but kinda looking forward to AF coming so I can use my new toy. π€

@yellowbeach: I am so glad that I did not offend and you saw the humor in my statement! I always assume you must be at work or on-call (or on an envy-inducing vacation!
) when you do not respond to a comment soon after.
FWIW, I believe you made the right decision in selecting your RE's partner to perform the ERA. I hope it gives you a definitive answer as to why IVF hasn't yielded your beautiful rainbow yet. Update as you see fit ... I would be curious as to how it goes for you and what results it yields [if you dont mind that I am exceptionally inquisitive
.].

@Kaohinani: Right now I'm writing from an Amtrak train on my way to a conference in Baltimore. It's pretty great actually - Cafe Car has veggies, hummus, wine and M&Ms - add to that free WiFi and some time all to myself and I'm feeling pretty pampered.
Speaking of vacays... DH and I are planning something tropical (non-Zika) for Late Jan/early Feb. This is what I'm currently eyeing up - a real life tree house in the jungle!

@Kaohinani: Oh - and that HPT you posted is amazing... doesn't seem like it lasted on the market. Were you able to find it anywhere else online? (I know you Googled the shit out of it )
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@yellowbeach: No ma'am. I couldn't find it ANYWHERE!
From what I was able to discern from various posts and sites, it was discontinued in early 2018! (I would have thought I would have seen it advertised atleast once before it was pulled from shelves and websites! π€·ββοΈ)
From what I found out, women were not using it properly and then freaking out when the results weren't what they expected or the numbers didn't perfectly equal the beta they received a day or two earlier. What it came down to was (a) pregnant women didn't follow the explicit directions and then panicked when they seemed to be miscarrying, (b) women didn't consider that all pregnancies can result in higher or lower initial numbers and they panicked, and finally (c) some women were trying to use this qualitative test AS a quantitative test and were upset when either the numbers from 1 day to the next (less than 48-72 doubling) didn't yield an increased result OR the numbers looked lower than a blood beta due to diluted urine (amongst other reasons). Basically, it was pulled for causing mass hysteria and for not delivering "adequate" results in real-life testing! π It was quite similar to the reasons why CB digital with the weeks estimator is no longer available in the US: Women who were 3/4 weeks along with lower-end HCG levels were panicking that they were miscarrying when they saw "1-2" or "2-3," AND women with higher HCG levels at only 1/2 weeks were either thinking they miscalculated their OV date OR were having multiples !
π€ It is amazing how crazy π€ͺ pregnancy can make a woman... and how far the FDA will go to recall or request a discontinuance in order to ameliorate the issue! π€― #MindBlown

Ok - AF is officially here 3 or 4 days early. Thank goodness I brought my Diva. Had to do a crash course. Other issue with this early arrival is that I was supposed to start estrogen in CD1. I have no estrogen pills with me as Iβm out of town. Facebook messaged my REs nurse to ask what to do (hates to cross that boundary, but itβs of course Saturday) and they are going to call me in a prescription to pick up on Monday. Ooof.

I've been tracking with you guys but know myself well enough that jumping into the board with both feet is not healthy for me.
@yellowbeach: I hope you love the Diva! CD1 is always like a fresh start, reset button, "Here we go" [growth mindset!!]
@Kaohinani: Did your tests come yet?? What's your plan?
I've tested and I'm only 9DPO...I've had a positive by now with my other pregnancies. AF is supposed to arrive on Thurs, so we shall see!
grapefruit / 4144 posts
@yellowbeach: π€ Wow, you REALLY dodged a bullet, there! Talk about being lucky
!
@SweetCaroline: They were delivered yesterday (instead of on Friday) due to an unforeseen shipping delay. I did not test because my temp dropped a bit yesterday and fell a bit more today. The kicker is my chart went triphasic for the 3 temps before falling. π€¦ββοΈ I'm 13 dpo so it may be a slow descent towards AF (I usually get my AF between 16- and 18 dpo). I don't see the point in wasting an HPT just so I can stare at a lily-white test and know AF will soon arrive. π€·ββοΈ I am always POAS happy early in my cycle but as my cycle approaches its end, I become gun shy (stick shy? π€£)!
