Used to be 2-4% based on merit, but there's been a freeze in recent years, so zero. I work for a nonprofit (university hospital).

@Freckles: I don't know if we have a max. I don't remember seeing a maxiumum level in our policy. I know we have a range of how high your personal performance and company performance can contribute to your raise and bonus. Though my company recently increased the company performance number because of how well the company has done.

My last raise in December was 8% and DH's was 16.5%.
Our company doesn't give out yearly raises to everyone just because. You have to earn them.. no COLA! We do all get small yearly bonuses though, but they're usually $500 or less.

Wow! Personally, I think y'all are lucky to even be getting raises. I'd be thankful for even that 2% - every little bit helps! Dan's company doesn't do raises & no COLA. No bonuses either.

@littlek: wow! Nice one!! I hoping DH is going to get that, or close to it, since he is getting a promotion this year.

@Ms.Pumpkin: 1 % for Feds this year. This is the first adjustment since I started working for the government. Fortunately, since I'm relatively new, I've had grade and step increases so I can't complain too much, but I know a lot of people who are completely maxed out and hadn't gotten any sort of raise in years.

We are state funded, so our COLA is based on the state's economy. This year it was 3.5%, but it was nothing for 2-3 years prior to that.
We do receive automatic annual 5% increases during the first five years of employment {step/column increases}, and another 5% at every 5 year anniversary {5, 10, 15, etc.}.

The most I've ever gotten here is 3.5%, and that was after 2 years where they didn't give any raise at all (I work for a state agency). I don't expect they will give us one this year either.
DH gets very good raises, at the minimum 5%. We definitely rely on his raises to keep up with cost of living.

@PurplePumps: I'm in engr consulting in a rural area and am lucky to get a raise!

At my previous company it typically was 0-3% depending on performance. I usually got anywhere from 1.5-2.5%. Jealous of those who get 5%+!

I got 3%, DH got 9%. in raises.
Bonuses are on a different scale and mine was recently bumped up.

Ok, I lied earlier. I looked and I got 3.5% raise and 7% bonus this year.. So I think that's why I said I get between 4-6% each year because I was looking at the total raise/bonus percentage.

Last year mine was 3.5%, which I think is typical mid-range for where I work. However, I think we're due for bigger raises this year b/c our institution is trying to re-adjust salaries over the next 5 years to match our peer institutions. (We lag behind right now.)

Our annual max is 3%. Just had my review today and got the maximum, woo hoo!!

This year was decent. I got 5% on salary and 11% total if you count the increase in bonus potential. I try not to rely on that tho since it's not guaranteed. Overall I'm happy with my increase.

@Smurfette: yep! DH works his a$$ off though. His company is very generous with raises and bonus. His bonus is insanity.

Last few years, the company wasn't doing well, so we got nothing. This year we got COLA which I think was 2%. I've only gotten bigger raises when my responsibilities increased. We don't get raises for "time served".

Since the cost of living in my area actually went down last year I think any raise is a good raise

3-5% annually for a merit increase assuming you are performing average to excellent. Raises tend to be 9+%, depending on whether they need to adjust for your new level
