Any other babies with glasses? We just found out our 13 month old needs glasses and has to wear an eye patch for 2 hours a day to help train her brain to use her left eye, which has been drifting inward.
I was curious to see if any other bees have gone through the same thing. If so, how old was your kid when he or she started wearing glasses or a patch? How did it go? What brands do you recommend? Any advice on keeping the glasses on?

Ds's best friend did! Started around 10 months if I remember right, with bother the glasses and patch. Unfortunately she needed surgery to correct the strabismus at 14 months, but it went wonderfully. I'll find out brand recs and post soon.

Oh and the glasses have a strap but still get pulled off and chewed on from time to time...

My son started wearing glasses when he was 17 months due to his left eye turning in as well. He's had them for about a year and will soon start wearing the patch. We've had luck with meraflex frames. They are plastic and have a strap that goes behind the head. They are really durable and since they are one solid piece they are pretty indestructible. DS has had his a year now with only a few chew marks.
We have never forced or fought with him to wear them. We put them on and if he took them off we would wait a few minutes and then try again. When he figured out that they helped him see he kept them on for longer periods.

Yes! Both of our twins got glasses at 7 months, and DD was in a patch for the first two months. (She's actually temporarily back in the patch for 2 hours a day at 22 months).
For us, the hardest part was keeping their glasses on, especially in the beginning. Try to keep her visually distracted with interesting toys while you put the glasses on, then continue with the distraction for a few minutes while she (hopefully) forgets about the glasses. Beyond that, you'll just have to be persistent and immediately replace them if she pulls them off! In our case, I finally got so frustrated, (DD was removing them 40-50 times per hour), the dr prescribed her some atropine drops, which essentially blur her vision unless she wears her glasses. The drops worked after the second day! As of today, she asks for her glasses first thing in the am 
The patch can be really hard and sad to look at. Try using OrtoPads...they come in cute designs and are hypoallergenic. Even those tend to leave a red mark for an hour or so after they come off, but if you put a little milk of magnesia on first and let it dry, the patch does come off easier.

So glad to hear some success stories! We ordered a pair of wire frames with cable temples, and we also have a pair of Kids Bright Eyes on their way - I think they're pretty similar to Miraflex from what I've read.
@RsMom: Chew marks! Oh man I hadn't even thought about that. So glad to hear the frames are still going strong a year later.
@twoofeverything: Thank you so much for this advice! We just got a box of the Ortopad patches and did her first trial run the other day. The patch left some pink skin irritation that we treated with coconut oil but now I'm going to get some milk of magnesia to try to avoid the irritation in the first place. I would just love to know who first tried putting milk of magnesia on their kid's face to discover that trick! How strange.

Not sure how helpful it is, but I was a child with this problem. I was born severely cross-eyed and had 3 surgeries by age 3 (that didn't work). At that point, they got me glasses and I had to wear an eye patch. I wore the glasses until I was in 2nd grade or so, and I hated them every day. I would hide them when going to camp! But, they did the trick.
The only impact to my vision now is that I don't see 3D like most people and my eyes don't focus together. I can't give eye contact with both eyes at the same time, but I do use my eyes equally. Not sure if treatment has changed that much in 30 years though!
