My LO loved the TV too! I would let him watch it for a little while because it gave me a break! It was nice, but soon enough it became boring to him especially as he got older and more mobile, he had no interest in the TV!

J was the same way. He'd stare at it after nursing and it was a break from his constant crying so I went with it not all the time, but I think everything is fine in moderation. Except crack. That's whack.

@shopaholic: as far as sleep goes, eventually I think the projector mobile started to bother him, especially when he'd wake up at night. So we kinda had to cut that one out for sleep's sake!

During the day, he pretty much wants always to be interacted with unless he's in the bouncer, then he's usually good for like, 30 mins!

I think it's definitely the lights. My son is currently 11 weeks, but I noticed him doing the same thing at about 7 or 8 weeks. What I decided to do was buy an activity gym that has flashing lights since I know that's something he enjoys looking at.

Sometimes if I notice he's staring at the tv too much I'll try a different activity. I break out a book, "Brown Bear, Brown Bear" has been one of his favorites, again bright colors. We also have been going outside more, the wind and the sunshine have been equally stimulating.

My LO was never into TV. She didn't start watching until 20 months. I'm glad.... as much as it would have been nice to get a break every once in a while, I know it's healthier for her to not have the tv.

My LO is 4 months but has been drawn to TV and screens in general since for a while now. Once he started paying attention, I also turned them off. I'll still use my tablet or phone online while nursing him, but he can't see them because they're behind him, and I only do it because its easier to hold than a book and if I interact with him too much while nursing he gets distracted and won't eat (he just wants to smile at me instead, the cutie!). He looks at toys, things around the room,his hands and feet, me, and other people. Like Mrs. Sketchbook, I usually interact with him most of the day, either playing or wearing him to get things done. If he fusses I shush, rock, sing, or nurse to calm him. I do listen to 1-2 podcasts per day (~20 minutes each) if I need background noise. If he's really fussy we go outside and walk around. He loves that!

I'm with @googly-eyes... everything in moderation! At 8 weeks she is just attracted to the light and colors... she has no idea what's going on! Letting her look at the TV won't ruin her, I promise.
