Got home from work today, and I knew there were a million things that I had to get done, starting with baking two chocolate cakes for Easter dinners this weekend.
I pull out the same recipe I use every single time; the one I know forwards and backwards.
I measure out all of the ingredients, mixing them together, doubling every one of them so I have enough for two cakes.
I grab my 1/2 cup measure, and think (outloud) "There are four half-cups in a cup, so I need nine cupfuls of water to make 2.5 cups".
First of all, this doesn't even logically make sense. Second of all, I now have FOUR AND A HALF cups of water in my batter. It wasn't until the stuff was literally sloshing all over the counter that I even realized I might have done something wrong.
Oh my word. Let's try that again, shall we?
