So a quasi-friend of mine is due three months ahead of me (quasi-friend as in I helped her move and we look after each others' cats. We socialize with each other four hours a year, tops.) Neither of us have a lot of local female friends. It didn't even occur to me that she'd WANT a baby shower until I was pregnant and my husband asked about us having one. I've asked her if she wants one, provided we're both still here in a few months.

If you were in the situation where there wasn't really anyone locally that you socialized with regularly, would you want a baby shower?
