If you invited a couple to a baby shower and you knew they had small children, were you surprised if they brought them with them or was it the more the merrier?

DH's long time friend, Jake, and his wife, Marsha, are having a baby shower in a few weeks. The location itself is rather surprising since it isn't being held at a family member's house but at a clubhouse that's part of a planned community/sub-division. When they sent the invitation, it was addressed to Mr. and Mrs. H---. They know we have two small children, one of which I'm not going to be able to leave with the grandparents (my in-laws) because she's still BFing. The question is, do I ask if kids are allowed to come, just assume they know that we're going to bring the kids with us, or make our excuses?
