Yeah I agree.... lo has her birthday and I have mine. I should get my own gifts. Usually I do though ..... one more month and I hit the big 30 so I can tell you then.

Yeah, that would bug me big time. Just because I have a LO doesn't mean I don't want things for myself!

If it were stuff for me AND baby that's not too bad, but yes. It would make me sad too

Last year my birthday fell 2 weeks after I had LO. I was actually a little depressed because I was in pain and home all day with a new baby. No one bought me any baby items--DH did get me an amazing necklace with LO's photo, but that doesn't count!

I didn't mind getting baby stuff for Christmas because I don't really care about Christmas gifts but I'm going to be the big Three-Five this year and I better not get anything for LO! (I would be ok with gifts for LO if I had specifically requested it).

I literally got nothing from my family this Christmas. Everything was baby related, and it was very disappointing! I like being loved too!

Luckily my hubs felt sorry for me and we bought after Christmas presents together

My bday is two weeks after my due date this year. I think I'd rather get nothing than a bunch of baby stuff. This kid is going to be spoiled enough as it is. I think the only way I wouldn't mind if when baby is older and it was for something we could do together like a museum pass or something like that.

I think if it's something that's partially for you but baby related, like a diaper bag, that's ok. Things that are 100% for baby though are not cool. I feel like baby gets gifts all year long for various holidays etc, so my birthday should be for me.

It wouldn't bother me EXCEPT if it was from my husband. My parents sort of make it a point to get something non-baby though.

This year for my bday, my husband got me jewelry, my parents gave me a clothing gift certificate, my sister gave me a necklace, and my MIL got us a jogging stroller.

I don't honestly need anything, so it wouldn't bother me to get stuff for LO from my family. If it was from my husband I would want a gift for me though.

It would bother me a little, but to be honest... I only got one birthday gift this year, from my MIL. My family sort of sucks at bday gifts, so it's not a big deal, but still. And DH got me a big Christmas gift (Canon Rebel!!) and we are going on a big vacation this month, so we agreed not physical gifts. For Christmas this year my BIL got me a GC to baby Gap, but that might be used for maternity clothes for me, which I think it is fair.

I think you should treat the GC as money to spend on yourself-- like, OK you have to spend $50 less of your money on diapers, which means you get $50 to buy whatever you want.

ETA: Oh-- and 30 was one of my best years! Actually, so far, my 30s have been really great. Other than the fact that my metabolism slowed down, I would say my 30s have been even better than my 20s! (I only just turned 32, but still

The asme happened to me at christmas. pretty much all my xmas gifts were for the baby. It was slightly disappointing at first but I guess its part of being a parent?
