Would you have your child, INFANT, learn survival swimming?!
This video freaked me out at first & I still don't know if I'd be rushing the doors to sign up but it might be worth doing for those with pools!
For those that couldn't finish: Baby is unharmed in video & dad safely grabs him in the end.

Oh my goodness, thatjust made me tear up...I can't imagine how scary that situation would be for a parent. But anyway to answer the actual question, if we had a pool I might consider doing that, but I think there's no substitute for keeping an eye on your child at all times, and gating a pool.

i would, but WTF, that video is NUTS! i totally understand the point of showing off the infant's skills, but gosh darn it, i was so stressed out hearing him cry!!!

I honestly think its amazing! There aren't many pools in Canada but I would definitely have my kid learn this. I'd rather them know and never have them use it than them not knowing and have an accident and die.
I saw this on Facebook the other day and my husband and I were in awe! The video doesn't encounters badly if you're wondering. It just shows that it can be done with shoes and fully clothed.
Very awesome for people with pools!

if we had a pool then yes. but they are never near a body of water so as long as we watch them in the tub, they are pretty safe!

Soooo that video was super scary BUT my friend took her infant to survival swimming lessons and even though it looked terrifying watching a video she took of her kid doing that, it was pretty awesome that babies can learn things like that so young! I plan on taking LO to survival swim lessons.

That baby crying just about killed me! If I had a pool I would do this, someone I know did this with their child and it really was amazing.

I'm so terrified of water after my drowning experience so I'll have to pay for my kids to have lessons. But we don't have a pool so I'm not too concerned.

If we had a pool, I would do it, although I think it's best to have other safeguards in place. That said, I kind of hated watching the video because it seems like forever that they leave the baby in there! I kept thinking that the point was made and would someone please fish him out already! Maybe it's my "almost a mommy" nerves kicking in.

DH made me watch this a couple of nights ago. The whole time I was watching I kept saying, "No, no I can't watch this. No!" I was freaking out about this video--even though the baby is okay it's still scary to watch.

We have an underground pool in our backyard and because of the drowning risk, were leaving it closed this summer & hopefully by the next summer after that LO will have been taught to swim so we can reopen it. I am terrified of this and I honestly am not looking forward to the stress of always having to watch my son like a HAWK outside in our fenced yard

I just watched this video this morning! I was horrified by the beginning, but it's amazing! I would totally put my son in that class. I actually already looked up to see if there were classes in my area. My mom and grandm have a pool and lots of people have pools where I live.

It's ...interesting, but I would call not gating a pool when you have a child that young, negligent. There's just so much that could go wrong.

Last summer I actually met a father with a 9 month old who could do this ... I was amazed and impressed and will definitely consider it for DD this summer!
