We went to the midwife last week and she asked how my eating/health has been. I'm a vegetarian, and I told her that I'm likely not getting as much protein as I should be. She said that I could make smoothies in the morning and add protein powder to increase my protein intake. We went to the store yesterday and I couldn't find any powder that looked OK to get (or yummy), so I held off. I bought protein bars, nuts, and other things with protein in them instead.
Well, I wake up this morning and DH made me a really delicious looking fruit smoothie. I took a few sips and it tasted like it had protein powder in it so I asked what he put in it (knowing we didn't have protein powder in the house). He names off a few fruits and a juice, and I go along drinking it. I'm almost done, and he tells me he put raw eggs in it! raw eggs! He said he was really worried about it after our appointment so he did it and decided not to tell me (knowing I wouldn't drink it). I was so frustrated I wanted to cry, but he tells me he googled it and its completely safe (even for pregnant woman). Of course by this point, I want to puke. But, maybe he's right? Have you guys had raw eggs in your pregnancy? I'm just nearing the end of my first tri (12W5D).
