DD has sometimes hit her head back against the wall while sitting in her high chair. I also had a friend with a 2 year old son that went through a phase of banging his head on the wall.

Normal. I think my LO likes the sound and the fact that we both immediately pay attention to him.

B does it all the time.( She's 13 months.) She always does it in her high chair and has since she was quite young. She's recently started doing it on walls and even in the bath. She thinks it's funny.

@Cherrybee: My LO totally did this and it also freaked me out! She would do it when she was throwing a tantrum. Sometimes she'd do it hard enough to leave marks on her forehead:(. My ped, as well as several Peds that I call on for work ( I'm a drug rep) all assured me that it's totally normal and is bc they want to express themselves so bad but just don't have the language yet to do it. So that's how they communicate. Mine was saying "I'm super pissed, Mommy!!!"

I didn't ignore it, but I tried not to react to it. I would instead try to distract her from the tantrum. Which I do whether she's banging her head or not. I don't pick her up. I don't give In and soothe her. I distract her with a book, or doing something else, like. "hey, let's go pick out a bow and fix your hair." That usually worked:)

Yep, she's just starting flinging her self down now doesn't matter and thinks it's "funny" to hit her head. Give me a heart attack every time I see her try to do it.
