In a few weeks we will be flying out to AZ with our, then, 2 month old. We will be taking her infant seat with us but checking out at the gate and are looking for a decent travel bag. We have the Safety 1st Air if that makes any difference.

we normally just use the heavy duty clear plastic bags that they provide at our airport ((easy to use, transparent, and can dispose of at arrival) -- i've never personally had a problem with them or with any damage, but i guess it depends on the people working/airline/airport and how careful they are!

We used this with our infant seat, which will now also work with our convertible. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0009RNXNA/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1380825549&sr=8-1&pi=SL75

@ALV91711: @tysonja: how do you carry the carseat around the airport? We were planning on checking at the gate so it doesn't get thrown around with all the luggage and aren't taking her stroller. Do you take the base with you? I guess that would actually be the hard to carry part.

We took our snap and go + infant seat, threw both in a large trash bag and checked at the gate.

We have flown many times with ours, but have almost always baggage checked it. Sometimes they give us a clear plastic bag and sometimes they don't. I have never had a problem with it arriving damaged or dirty.

We used this one (for 4 flights now) with both the infant seat and the convertible. The bag is still in great shape, as is the carseat. We gate checked.
We didn't take the base for the infant carseat. We just strapped it into the backseat with the seatbelt. Worked great!

I've used that same bright orange bag for our convertible, I've had situations where the carrier didn't have any more clear plastic bags. I have also used a padded stroller bag for our seat once, but that bag is currently storing another seat at my ILs home. We have bungeed the seat to a rolling carry on, works fine!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I've just checked it with the baggage and never had a problem. If I didn't then I would bring the stroller to click it into.

@Mrs Hedgehog: sometimes we checked with the baggage so isn't have to lug it around, and other times we used it with the stroller-- I can see why you wouldn't want to carry it if you didn't have the stroller, though! We never bring the base along, we just use the seatbelt to strap into the vehicle:) it's a little more work, but just as safe:) hope your trip goes well!

We have a Britax and bought the Britax carseat travel bag. It's awesome, has wheels, and backpack straps. We loaded it up with the actual seat and then packed it with diapers, blankets etc for DD. We checked it with our regular luggage and I wore her through the airport.

@Mrs Hedgehog: we traveled with the snap n go and car seat and pushed her through the airport in it. Then we hate checked both without a bag and they came through fine with no damage!
