I posted a couple weeks ago that my employer (non-profit) sold their daycares, one of which my son attends at a considerable employee discount. Today I found out exactly how much they are screwing us over.

They have restructured the discount we are offered resulting in an increase of $400 per month. This will be an additional $2000 over the course if the next 5 months until my son goes to kinder.

Besides being extremely disappointed in the way they handled everything, I think I deserve to be compensated for the loss of this benefit. I accepted my position and took a pay cut knowing my son would have heavily discounted (and high quality!) preschool for 2 years.

Any advice for how to negotiate this with my boss and HR? I successfully negotiated my starting salary but my salary is still very low for my field because it’s a nonprofit.
