@lindseykaye: Thank you. The really frustrating part is this discount change is directly impacting at least 3 other moms that I work with in the same way. It's become clear that HR never considered this scenario as I've begun asking questions.

Continuing the discounted tuition through the school won't be an option because the new owners (a local chain) won't honor it and say they have no obligation to. They also just raised the tuition from what it was before the acquisition of our centers, of course.

I think asking for a one time bonus would be the best strategy at this point. I will want to negotiate a promotion/salary increase at some point put now probably isn't the best time.

I just reinforces my belief that nothing is fair - especially in business - and you have to fight for it.

@Mama Bird @kiddosc: So much is happening around this issue. I talked to one colleague today who is new. She has a foster child and an infant both in the waiting list for the daycare and now they’ve pulled this rate increase on her. I’m also aware of a handful of other employees who have been taking and researching the new company and the county subsidized discount and it sounds super shady. I spoke to one woman today who had written up a lengthy and professional email and chose to send it directly to the CEO and VP of our org, as well as the higher ups from the new company. She asked for a parent meeting to clear up all the pricing, discount, and policy questions. I’m hoping our agency takes action to make up for this.
