Tearing! I'm super scared of tearing and/or being cut.

Throwing up.

With my first it was having a c section.
With my second it's the same!

Had 3rd degree tears with Lo and recovery wasnt bad at all.

Hmmm I really tried to dispel all my fears with telling myself lots of "your body is AMAZING & knows EXACTLY what to do" but I guess my greatest fear would've been having a repeat cesarean..... Going into it though I never even really considered that option. *shrugs shoulders*

I think I was most afraid of being so self-consious and out of control but once that was immediately thrown out the window, I was all good, hahaha

My biggest fear was that it would hurt desperately.

And you know, it did hurt. Wow, a lot. But that really wasn't the bad part. Not getting the natural birth was the bad part. Having her be in the nicu for a week sucked. The pain was bad, but it was never more than I could handle. Not even with max pitocin and a failed epidural. So next time, I won't worry about it.

I have had a delivery with pitocin without pain meds. I have had an episiotomy (and still tore a lot). I had and epi at 10 cm with #2. SO I feel like I have a handle on those things.

I am terrified of having another abruption of the placenta (happened with #1). I am so scared it will happen again and I won't be so lucky.

If it came down to getting a C section I think I would be really scared. I have never had surgery of any kind before and I think in that moment I would probably freak out.

@hergreenapples: Do you get the chance to meet the OBs that work with your midwife at all? Maybe that would help just to have an idea of what they are like (or that might make it worse, lol).

@mrsmenow: No, in my province midwives are primary care providers, so they don't work with OBs. The only case in which I would be transferred to an OB is if I were to become high risk (GD. pre-e, etc.) or if I needed to be induced with pitocin. Hoping that none of those scenarios occurs

@hergreenapples: That stinks. I would be nervous about having to change providers late in the game too (we have such a good relationship with our doctor, he delivered DD #2 so we have been seeing him for years). I hope everything goes smoothly and you don't have to worry about this at all:)

Um, and this just about happened. I was 10 cm and a +3 station when I finally got into a room, and they let me get one!

Anything dangerous for the baby. Ripping aft to stern doesn't sound pleasant, but my main concerns are that she dies in childbirth or something equally horrific. The pain/gross aspect of birth doesn't really phase me too much.

@oliviaoblivia: lol that was my biggest fear until I was actually in labor and then I just didn't even care anymore!! You are more concerned with getting through each contraction and getting the baby out than anything else that happens!!! I didn't poop while pushing but I felt like I had to the whole time and at that point I wanted the pressure gone so badly I didn't care if I did or not!! haha.

My biggest fear was not being able to deliver at my birth center - which ended up happening because I had pre-e. I was upset I couldn't move during labor, or have a water birth or anything so that totally sucked. I had a great experience overall though...

I think for my next one I'm scared to get pre-e again.

Induction and c-section. For this second time, I also have a fear of getting another infection in my uterus pp.

Definitely tearing...

I was terrified of getting the epidural even though I knew I wanted it! I hate needles! Terrified of having have a C-section, and terrified of pooping while pushing! Luckily everything went smoothly!

Assuming safe babies is a given, then pushing out one baby successfully and then having to have a c-section for the second. The double whammy scares the beegeesus out of me!

@Mrs. Blue: That would suck. I have heard though that it is better to have a baby via c-section after laboring as opposed to a scheduled c-section, because the labor prepares the baby for birth and it isn't such a huge shock to them.
