All the spring 2012 mamas what are you guys doing for your LO's 2nd birthday? I want to bake her a cake or tower or muffins, but not really sure exactly what I want. Any ideas?

Well, DD turns 2 at the end of April and baby #2 is due April 4! AH! So I think we're just going to do something simple at her favorite park. I'm thinking brunch - bagels, fruit salad and a donut cake?

@luckypenny: that's so cute, my sister and I are born in the same month too!

Bumping this up. We are having a small party for family at our apartment. We will probably do a play date for LO and her BFF in the morning with some breakfast and balloons, nap time, and then have family come over at 3.
I'm going to do a chocolate cake with red frosting and a small Elmo pennant & red balloons. Probably make baked ziti & a salad for the family.
We have no idea what we are going to buy her as a gift this year since we got her a play kitchen for Christmas. Any ideas on gifts?

We're having a fairly sizable party (but casual) about a month after her birthday, after we get back to the states. We're going to rent a park and BBQ/potluck it and invite all of our family and friends. It's going to be sort of a birthday/welcome home party, I think.
We're not doing much on her actual birthday, to be honest.
As for a gift, she's getting a play kitchen and food after we get home.

@mrsjazz: When my niece was that age I got her puzzles and books. (She always ends up with lots of toys!)

@jhd: Good idea on the puzzles. We always buy her books, so I will buy her something off her list. I was just looking online and I think we will also buy her some PlayDoh (can't believe she doesn't have any!) and some a dress up outfit, since she loves frilly, girly dresses and anything sparkly (I don't know how the hell that happened since her mom does NOT wear dresses).

@mrsjazz: We just got C her first PlayDoh for on the plane and she is completely obsessed.

@loveisstrange: Awesome! I think I forget about the good old back to basic gifts sometimes.

We're not having a party this year. I really struggled with this but after the layoff I'm really glad we're not!
We're going to have a nice family day at the zoo. I plan to bake a Daniel tiger cake using the recipe Sarah Crowder recently shared! For dinner we'll invite my ILs over. Making her favorite meal of homemade spaghetti with a homemade pasta sauce..
When she goes to daycare on Tuesday I'll bake some cupcakes to to take in.

@locavore_mama: That sounds like a great day. The zoo is a good idea. I wish LO had a bunch of daycare friends!

No clue! I don't think I want a party. I wanted to go to the zoo with the grandparents, but he was born in August, and it is so hot! So maybe aquarium? But that is so expensive!

@jhd: there was a Melissa and Doug princess castle on nbd the other day. Super cheap.i got that for my niece when she was 3 and she loved it. She's 10 now and it's still holding strong for her little brother.
@Mrs. Sketchbook: maybe keep an eye on a groupon like deal? Zoo is expensive too but it's her birthday! I'm bummed because I missed a bogo for the zoo just a few weeks ago!
@mrsjazz: I sooo wanted to have a party so we can invite her daycare friends! Oh well. Next year for her third we'll hopefully be in a spot to throw a big party.
