did you have any birthday traditions growing up? do you plan to start any (or have you already) with your LOs?
I think we may start to buy LO a book for each birthday and write her a note in it. when she's older, maybe a special dinner or breakfast..I have some time for that though!

Mom always put a birthday banner on the front door. She would do our chores for the day, making our bed, clearing the table, and we got to pick what was for dinner.

Mom always busted out the birthday tablecloth and hung birthday decor, and we got to pick a special dinner that she would make for us.

With my group of friends we would all scream once the knife hit the platter during the first cut of the cake. I will not share this with my kids because its noisy!

DH's family had a special birthday plate that they got to use for that day. DH wants to do the same. I did get a plate this year, but we'll probably invest in a nicer plate once E is old enough to not throw it on the ground and break it...

We always have noodles on our birthday. It's a Chinese tradition since noodles represent longevity. DD turned 5 today and she had noodles too.

So I really like this birthday tradition from everybody loves Raymond. On his birthday at the exact time he was born his mom would give him a birthday kiss on his forehead. Soooo sweet!
I want to come up with something but it needs to be easy enough to commit to.

We did a birthday dinner. On the night of a birthday, we all go out to dinner - birthday person's choice of restaurant. We also did the noodles at our birthday parties.
I'd like to be able to make a cake for our kids' birthdays.

When I was little, my mom would wake me up and take me to breakfast in my jammies - I always chose Coco's, and ordered the Mickey Mouse pancakes.
