I had this totally random thought yesterday about whether or not you can breast-feed while you're pregnant?
i.e. Tori Spelling - who got pregnant with #4 four weeks after baby #3, while BF and "Irish Twins".
* Not that I ever want to be in that situation, but there are plenty of people who are born within a year of their siblings, so I just wondered how that works?

Yup you can, I know someone who just did that. The pregnancy significantly reduced her supply, though.

I have known some but there were people here on hb whose supply dried up even though they tried. @Chopsuey119 just went through that

I have a close friend who got pregnant while she was breastfeeding and she had to stop because she just couldn't eat enough calories and her supply got really low.

My supply dropped drastically before I was 2 months pregnant....I went from pumping 8-12 ounces in the morning to barely 0.5 ounces! My OB also told me to wean at my first prenatal appointment because of my GD and diminished supply.

I'm doing it right now- LO is 16 months and I am 5 months pregnant. The last few weeks my supply tanked though and LO is really not getting much at all. BF is really important to me, so going forward I would definitely try to not get pregnant before LO is a year old so that he could be EBF until 1.

I nursed for the first trimester, then she self weaned at 17 months old. I was down to only one feed a day by that point, so I didn't notice a supply issue.

Lots of women like me can't seem to get pregnant while breastfeeding. Those who do will usually lose or have a big drop in their supply. But some lucky women can keep going all the way through if they want. I think that's awesome, and if I manage to get pregnant while still breastfeeding, I'll do it as long as I can manage!
