I know there's lots of us who live in Brooklyn, can you recommend an OB/GYN? I'm in Carroll Gardens. I'm trying to book my first appointment after my 
and I am so overwhelmed by all the options! I haven't been here long, so I don't have any girlfriends to ask or a primary care doctor. Thanks!

Not in NYC anymore, but I went to Downtown Women in Soho and delivered at NYU. They're a large group with all female doctors. With my pregnancy I had to see all of them and I can honestly say there was only one who I didn't like, and luckily she did not deliver LO. And in retrospect, she was heavily pregnant when I saw her so maybe she was just having an off day
ETA: Before I got pregnant (and my insurance changed) I went to Spring, also in Soho. They were fairly similar to Downtown Women (all female staff, deliver at NYU) and I liked them a lot.

@meredithNYC: Thanks, unfortunately I called Downtown and they're not accepting new OB patients, and Spring doesn't take my insurance.

@Aria: Aw, man. Yeah, Downtown is really popular and I remember I just barely made it in as a patient. I'll ask around and see if I can get some good suggestions from my friends who are still in the city.

I know it's early, but have you given any thought as to where you want to deliver? I knew I'd be delivering at NYU so I started by search with NYU OBs that took my insurance. Also, I'm in CG also, but my OB was in Manhattan close to my office. It made my life so much easier.

@Aria: Congrats!!!! So excited for you. I use westcare medical. They are in manhattan and the obs there are all women. Love them. They are affiliated with St Lukes Roosevelt Hospital. If you are looking for something in brooklyn specifically let me know as my sister uses a brooklyn practice and delivered at Methodist.

@Madison43: In the little research I've done, it seems like NYU is not too far from me and highly recommended. I didn't even think to check who else delivers there, so I will definitely look into that!
@Ctran: Thanks for the recommendation. I'd love to hear about your sister's practice - it might be a little closer and more convenient for me.

@Aria: http://nyp.org/physician/rwong/ He's an amazing doctor, but I ended up switching to a birthing center because I didn't want a hospital birth. If I had known I was going to end up with a C-section I would him.
@Ctran: Can you send me the info for your sister's doctor? I am looking for a new OB/GYN in Brooklyn near my job and I work near Methodist.

Dr Youyin Choy was my OB before we moved.

Based on the research I did, I recommend against delivering at SLR. Don't be fooled by their birthing center.
In fact I recommend not delivering in Manhattan. In most other places you will get a private postpartum room. That way, your husband can room in with you, and you have privacy to get settled in as a family.

My sister's ob is Thomas Paone. He is with Park slope ob/gyn. She loved him and he delivers at methodist. -

I'm sorry to say this, but I used Westcare as my Gyn for years and had terrible experiences with two of the doctors there. My coworker delivered with a different doctor in that practice and loved it though, so maybe I was just unlucky.
Dr. Pri Paz was my ob and I LOVED him. He is high risk though, so he might not take you. Good luck!

I went to Dr. Weinstein at Weill Cornell. She was great, but located on the UWS so not sure if that is too much of a trek for you.

I go to Dr. Cha, who is affiliated with Mt Sinai. I really like her, but it's not a convenient location from Brooklyn.

@Aria: I delivered at NYU, and my Ob/gyn was part of NYU midtown OB. Even though my doctor delivers most of her patients, she was out of town when I went into labor, and I really loved the doc who ended up delivering me. I saw 3 out of 4 docs in the practice and highly recommend all of them. Wall me if you'd like the specific info or if you have questions about NYU.

@Modern Daisy: me too! I felt bad saying it but now that you have I'll second it. I actually just left westcare! I switched at 21 weeks because I was so unhappy there. But there was one doctor in particular that I had bad experiences with. Wall me who you had issue with!
I also have 2 other friends of friends who had issue with the same doc...one switched practices at 37 weeks because she was so afraid to deliver with her. -
@Aria: I recently switched to Cityscape OBGyN. They are on 32 and Park and affiliated with NYU. So far so good but I have only been there a couple of times. I even like their office staff and I usually have bad experiences with them!

My ob is also at westcare but she didn't deliver my baby (you get whoever is on call). I think I got lucky and ended up with a great Dr who I had never met since LO came early. @modern daisy @sweetiepie I'm also curious who you saw and why you left as I'm considering whether to change Dr when we have LO2.

@Aria: congrats! I went to a practice in Midwood (Associates in Ob Gyn Care) and delivered at Maimonides. It was a very good experience. I was there recently though, and it seemed like the doctors are busier and it's a longer wait to see them.

I went to Dr. Theresa Peretta at Beth Isreal (Union Square location) and LOVED her. I sent a ton of my girlfriends to her too. I also delivered my DS at BI. They really encouraged breastfeeding and skin to skin and had excellent lactation consultants.
