I think it's only natural that there would be a great deal of interest when someone who has been a public figure for so long makes such a significant life change. No one is forcing Bruce Jenner to live his (her?) life in the public eye. My husband and I will definitely be waching.

I'm not sure. I can't decide how I feel about this. On the one hand, I'm happy for him that he's ready and open about his transition. I think it's good for people to see these types of stories to hopefully normalize it. But on the other hand, I wonder if maybe there's TOO much of a circus around Bruce Jenner that could potentially be detrimental. While I think it's good for people to be made aware of such transitions, like @wonderstruck said, I don't want it to seem like it's some super controversial act. A lot of people react so negatively to anything Kardashian-related, and I'd hate for the trans community to get drawn into that. Hopefully that makes sense!

@wonderstruck: @MrsSCB: yeah, I agree... it's being treated as such an OMGSCANDAL (did you see the tabloid pics that look basically like big foot sightings? They need to lay off already.) One of my oldest and dearest friends is trans, we've been friends since we were babies, so I think I'm kind of sensitive when it comes to this subject. Though I do agree that it's good that it's becoming more, I guess, mainstream?

@Shutterbug: Ugh, those photos were upsetting. It seemed pretty clear that he was at his own home and someone was taking them with a very long-range lens. What a violation of privacy.

Yes! I've got my bottle of wine and cleared everything else from my schedule. I feel like this could be a really important interview to educate people about trans issues...or it could be horrible. Either way I want to hear from Bruce.

@Shutterbug: @MrsSCB: I think he's suing the photog that took those? I agree that they were a total invasion of privacy (though I think he looked good in the dress!). But yeah, I can't imagine not even being able to relax at my own home. I hope that as a result of this interview he'll get a little more privacy by laying it all out, but who knows...

I'll be watching! (Right after I watch the episode of Greys I missed last night!) This whole week NBC Nightly News has been running stories of transgender youth (as young as 6?) and it was very thought provoking. I hope this interview is as well.

@lawbee11: Good! Whenever I see photos taken from such a distance like that, I think, "Well, that photog is obviously not supposed to be doing that..." I can't imagine having to deal with that kind of violation!

I'm not sure I'm going to stay up long enough to tune in, but I'll follow the news about it.
Part of me wonders if this has just been one giant and inappropriate publicity stunt, and the interview is going to include Bruce casually dismissing the claims and telling everyone to leave him alone.
Either way, this has been handled poorly. If Bruce identifies as a woman and is indeed transitioning, more power to her. But the fact that it's been made into this media "scandal" with swirling claims and Loch Ness monster photos is really just a disservice to the trans community. I hope the interview is a respectful one, at least.

@Shutterbug: that's how I feel. I'm sure it's good to bring more awareness to the subject, but I feel bad the media is treating it like a scandal.
I won't be watching because we are having a date night tonight, don't have cable, and keep forgetting why this person is famous. The Kardashians or something?
