DD's 3rd birthday is coming up. I have never met any of the other parents in her daycare class, but I know there are a couple other girls she plays with a lot. Is it okay for me to just invite those 3 girls to her bday party, or do I need to invite the whole class? I'd rather not invite them all because I don't have space for them. Although I honestly doubt many would come because we live a bit far from the school.

yup the kids in olive's class always do that because her class is huge with all the part-time kids!

You can always invite whomever you want. But if you want to pass out invitations in the classroom it is often a rule that you have to pass it out to everyone. I have "stalked" other parents in the past to pass them out outside of the school.

I invited 3 friends to my DDs 4th party- teacher put them in the kids mailbox at DCP -
i think that's fine as long the invitations are distributed in a discreet manner!

We've invited ~7 of her daycare friends to parties, before. It's not a big deal :). It's pretty clear that even at a young age, they do have particular friends they are closer to with the part-time kids and age-range of the Toddler class. We've attended parties where it seems the entire class was invited, and just a few.
Our daycare also does a small celebration at school so if you're concerned about the other kids feeling left out, you could maybe do a small favor for the entire class? bubbles, chalk, stickers..

Yes I only invited 3 daycare kids because I knew their parents. We didn't have enough space for everyone!

I say yes!! Just make sure you give the invites via email, or outside of school.

The rule of thumb I've heard is either less than half the class, or everyone. So as long as the class is more than 7 kids I would say your plan is fine

This is good to know! DD1 is very close to a few of the kids so I would love to have a party next year and invite those few. But not the whole class!

That's what we're doing! I asked my lo who she would invite and she named 4 kids, then said, that's enough, mommy. Soooooo.... Yep. Just 4.
