DH and I are struggling with finding a name for our son who is due in two weeks! I thought we had one picked out, but DH told me today he doesn't love it. We both like more classic sounding names, but I don't want anything that is too popular. I would prefer it not be in the top 30 names right now. I also like two or three syllable names - nothing with one syllable, because I think it sounds too short with our last name. Also, I would prefer a name that doesn't end in ER, because our son's name ends in ER, and I don't want them to sound similar. Any suggestions?

My son is Aaron - I've been pleasantly surprised at how uncommon it is! We named him after my grandfather, in his generation it was in the top 50, but hasn't cracked it since around 1990. I was meh on the name but committed to honouring my grandfather/hero - now I absolutely LOVE it! And others do too, I hear often what a great name it is from random people! Good luck!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: Thanks for the suggestions! I like Calvin and Lucas. I'm not sure if I can convince DH though. It seems whatever one of us likes, the other dislikes.

@AprilD glad you posted this, we don't know what we're going to name our son either and it is stressing me out!! We have a short list of names we like, but I am worried it's going to be too stressful in the hospital to pick between 4 or 5 names! We need to narrow it down at least.
