We are going to be buying a minivan soon, and while talking to other people about the car buying process (we are both horrible negotiators and hate car buying in general!!) We were told to get like pre-approved with a credit union, that way we can have a decent rate locked in when we are at the different dealerships. That way it takes that piece out of the negotiation.

How exactly does that work? Like will we have a check in hand ready from the credit union? We have a price range that we are looking at, so I'm not even sure exactly how much we will need depending on the car we pick......

Help?! hahahah dumb it down for me please!
