That's awesome. I have Diono car seats and I know that they will replace for free when you get into a car accident but not sure if they do for minor fender benders; but it's nice to know they will do it for more serious ones. Glad you're all okay!

It's required, and it's nice that you dealt with a friendly insurance company. There are a lot of companies that rely on you not knowing that.

I found out about it before I got into the insurance industry by getting into an accident, the auto body shop that totaled my vehicle told me. They said whether it's a low impact or a total loss every carseat occupied or not should be replaced.

sorry about your accident - no fun! But that is pretty awesome. That's crazy that any accident requires a new seat. Do they reimburse you the amount you paid for the carseat, or just a set amount?

@StbHisMrs: crazy! insurance is an ugly business. I went to school for it and I'm so glad I never went through with it.

Oh yes, definitely! A friend of mine's car was totaled (someone else's fault) and her insurance bought her new sunglasses (which were demolished) and a new dog crate, which was in the trunk and got completely smashed up.
