Did you pre adjust your car seat straps ? We are expecting a long baby and I'm wondering if the default strap settings are too low. But adjusting them and the manual are sooo confusing ?? Should we just wait until LO is here ?

The default straps look soooo tiny! I figure we'll play with it in the hospital though.

When rear facing, straps should be at or below shoulder height, never above (well not until forward facing). They look super low, but it's probably where LO will need them and you can always move them if you need to.

I wouldn't adjust (or at least check with your hospital). Ours required us to bring the infant seat into the room and they showed us exactly how to put her in the seat and how the straps should all be positioned. Our LO was on the long side, but didn't move her straps until she was a couple of months old.

I would just wait, they can help you at the hospital if need be.

I would wait, you just never know what your baby will be like until it's here.

We considered moving ours, as well since they looked so small but newborns are so TINY!! Just leave them on those first settings and if the hospital thinks you have to move them, then they can help you adjust them appropriately.

I would wait too... bring the carseat into the room the morning you're going to leave and you should have plenty of time to play around with it while you're waiting to be discharged!

I thought they looked so low and tiny, too, but - newborns are tiny! We're leaving them as they came until LO is born and we bring the car seat in to take him home.

I would wait too. Plus, most of the times newborns are on the lowest setting anyway.

Wait- our boy was 21", it took several months for us to need to change the straps.
It isn't very hard usually, there it's a metal plate on the back of the car seat that you unhook the straps from, then unthread and re-thread the straps through the next level and back to the metal plate. Some seats have a specific side to do first per the manual.

Thanks ladies! I'm leaving it and putting the manual in my car in case we need to adjust at the hospital! I just can't believe my little man will be so TINY but I guess he will!!

My daughter was 22" tall and we didn't move it up for several months.
