You have to replace any in your car, correct? Even if not in use?
Two are harnessed so I assume to dispose of them I cut the harnesses. What about the high back booster? (To make sure no one takes from trash and uses).

It depends on the brand whether you replace after any accident, but yes, even if not in use, generally, they need to be replaced. I think some don't have to be replaced if the airbags don't deploy etc. But, your manual should say for sure. You can always call the company to find out for sure too.
Hope everyone's ok!

My SIL had someone rear-end her. Insurance covered both boosters. She cut any harnesses/buckles on the booster and wrote on it in marker that it was damaged before trashing it. I've also read you might be able to recycle it if that's an option near you.

@tinyperson: we are both okay! shaken up - other car was worse. thankful for my giant gas guzzler. ha.
@matador84: oh insurance definitely said they would cover. I'm just not sure how to dispose of the others - I know you're supposed to cut the harnesses on seats that have them. but had no idea how to make the HB booster unusable!
@Tanjowen: interesting! thank you. I will look into the recyclable option. my ILs use huge, thick, black trash bags (like outdoor type bags) so if I put a seat in that, there would be no recognizing it. I am sure if I covered it in other trash someone wouldn't be that nuts to take it? lol.

@sorrycharlie: I think Car Seat for the Littles has instructions on how to dispose properly, even recycle. Glad y'all are ok.

@Radish: I know. this time my car. Luckily not at fault whatsoever.
@swedishfish: thank you!
@Smurfette: thank you! I did post there and it took a bit but my cousin bumped, so someone replied. I was just stumped what to do for a seat without straps - it never occurred to me to take a hammer to it?! lol!

Our insurance covered ours. We were in a small fender bender last year and they sent is a check for $125 to replace our car seat.
