We don't have a car but we will need a car seat for LO2 when it's born and also one for DD (she's 18 months old right now). They're really just for taxi and hire car journeys so we're looking for seats that are easy and quick to get in and out of a car. Do these seats even exist, or all they all nightmares to install?

@travelgirl1: We have a Graco and Evenflo for convertibles and they are easy because the car seat itself isn't huge and bulky/heavy...I think that helps!

I have a Nextfit that I can get latched in and properly tightened in under a minute, it's so easy! However, it's not the lightest thing out there, unfortunately the two seem to be a difficult combo to find.

Yes, we don't have a car so we only use them in taxis - easy to install is our main criteria!
Infant seat: Cybex Aton (amazing, takes like 2 minutes to install with the seatbelt)
Convertible: Combi Coccoro (easy belt install)

@Beehive: Dude, I am totally bowing down to you for being able to quickly install the Coccoro. DH has one in his car and holy crap...I cannot even tell you how long I spend trying to tighten that damn thing, maybe I'm a wimp but I just couldn't do it! And then we had to undo the whole thing because the angle wasn't right and it needed a pool noodle to get it in properly. I've told him we're never removing it because there is zero chance of me putting it back in properly, LOL.

@wonderstruck: Oh no!! I have heard that people have trouble with the angle on the Cosco Scenera but haven't heard that about the Coccoro. It's definitely not as super-quick to install as the Cybex infant seat, but I find that if you shimmy the seatbelt like in the YouTube video demonstration (I think The Car Seat Lady's demonstration?) it tightens pretty quickly... hope I'm not doing it wrong!!

@Beehive: Maybe my DH's car is just stupid, I've never put it in another one. You're probably doing it right, I'm just seriously awful at car seat installs, my DH doesn't understand how I make it so complicated. Which I ended up with a carseat that costs three hundred freaking dollars...I needed an idiot-proof one. I would be screwed if I lived in a city where I had to put it in taxis and what not.

@travelgirl1: we are very interested in the uppababy Mesa infant seat bc it apparently installs in seconds and is highly rated for safety.

I second the Nextfit! Soo easy to get it installed quickly and properly.
