Today was my 40 week appointment, and I had my third cervical check - I'm still only about 1.5 cm dilated and 60% effaced. The doctor wasn't able to sweep my membranes, but is hoping to do so next week.
I've been having bright red, light bleeding for the past four hours since the exam - it's a little "clotty" and I'm experiencing cramps like my period is about to come. Baby is still bouncing around just fine, and otherwise I feel normal.
How do I know the difference between average spotting after a check, and bloody show? This is the first time I've seen any blood since my last period before getting pregnant, so it's bizarre.
Thanks!
Good luck! Your bloody show should show up accompanied with some mucus and some of it may be bright red, but there should be some darker red/brown streaks too. Believe it or not, I've had 2 kids and never actually seen my bloody show. Lots of mucous in early labor, but never any show that I've noticed.
Your body and your baby will know when she's ready to come out.
