How long have you been charting? Well, technically 4th cycle "charting" but first cycle REALLY charting taking temps all the way through - the first two cycles i quit in the middle so they are hidden on my page.
TTC Cycle: 2
Where are you from? Originally from Korea - moved to the states at age 11, been living in NJ ever since, with a brief 4-year stint in Boston for college.
Any kids already? Nope, just two doggies.
Burning charting question: Does anyone feel the urge to stop temping post-o to avoid the disappointment so early on in the morning with a temp drop?? I'm at that point today.

@ambular1025: Thanks. Weirdly enough, I'm not that upset. I like this whole going to the doctor to figure things out thing!
@chibee: I haven't wanted to quit, 'cause I like seeing the completed charts, but I've stopped worrying about waking up at the proper time etc.

Alright ladies... I need your help. My husband's SA came back and I have no idea what I'm looking at.
Motility was 64%, says it's normal above 50%.
Count was 78 million (that's good, right?)
Morphology was 31%, says normal is above 30%. Is that okay?
There was more but I forgot. I'm at work and going off of memory here.

@evenstar982: Thanks for the idea!
How long have you been charting? Almost nine months.
TTC Cycle: Lucky number 7!
Where are you from? Cali!! Specifically northern California.
Any kids already? Nope, two puppy dogs. AKA the loves of my life.
Burning charting question: Not right now!! But I love that I can ask you ladies all the time

@ChuckNorris: I think that's all pretty good. Do you mean the morphology was 31% normal forms, not abnormal? And I'm guessing you mean 78 million total? It sounds like those are normal numbers there!
apricot / 368 posts
@spaniellove: Yay! I just got the printed copy. Yeah, it says 31% normal forms. His pH also showed 8.0, with a normal range 7.2-8.0. Okay it also says time of motility 60 minutes? What's that mean?
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ChuckNorris: I'm going to guess they checked it within the hour? It doesn't seem like a standard thing to have on a SA report.

I won't play in the roll call but I AM still stalking all of your charts! I everyone on this thread.
I'm so bitter about every AF that arrived this week. Bah humbug. @Grace I'm glad you started getting tests run!
apricot / 368 posts
@spaniellove: Thanks SO much for your response... I was like I think this is okay, but I have no clue!?!?! lol. Now I await the bill.. Anyone know how much they paid for their SA if it was out of pocket? My insurance covers IF but his does not (I didn't join his insurance when we got married, and now I'm wishing he joined mine...)
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ChuckNorris: DH said the bill to the insurance company was $875 for B/W and SA but he didn't know how much it was for just SA. Our insurance doesn't cover infertility, but they paid for it, possibly because they cover labwork?
apricot / 368 posts
@spaniellove: Holy...BALLS. $875?!??!!?!?!?! I was thinking $250 tops... I so hope a lot of that was bloodwork! Oh well I guess... We will do whatever it takes to get this baby! MAN, I really hope it's not $875. Lol. Maybe his insurance will cover it too....I really hope! lol
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ChuckNorris: Okay, I feel like I remember reading $100 somewhere, plus they always jack up the bill for insurance so it probably is under a couple hundred for the SA!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ChuckNorris: I'm guessing there might have been an expensive component to the bloodwork because I saw that they sent out a sample to another lab.
apricot / 368 posts
@spaniellove: Phewwwwwww, my heart rate has calmed down. I know this is going to be an expensive process, but I just didn't realize we'd be down almost $1000 in just early work-up stuff. My biopsy came back as costing $150 (which is so cheap! I'm so lucky to work where I work!) so that plus $875, I was like daaang! Haha. The things we do to make a baby, right??
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ChuckNorris: Ugh, we have to pay $200 out of pocket just to meet with our RE this week! And then the $15,000 a cycle...
apricot / 368 posts
@spaniellove: Ohhh myyy goodness. Holy crap! Well, if it's any consolation, I can't do any IVF or IUI through my RE (he's technically retired and technically doesn't do IF anymore), but because he's at my work, they have been able to bill it as a "specialist consultation" and have covered all our visits with him. I don't have to pay a copay because it's a benefit of working there - they see employees for free. SO, even though we are getting a lot for cheap/free, the down side to all of this... If no go with fertility meds, there are no true fertility clinics* in northern California. The closest place is 3 hours away... We would probably end up moving if it came to IVF.
*There are a couple of gynecologists offices that will do IUI for couples that have been trying for 2+ years. It's very hard to get in with them and if I went with them, everything would be out of pocket for some reason. I'm torn because they don't do much fertility stuff, so I feel like they wouldn't be as up to date with meds/procedures/strategies, cuz they don't do it very often, you know? If I'm gonna spend thousands, I would want the latest information and have it done by someone who does it all the time, I think... The joys of living in a rural area.
Geez, sorry this is so long.

@ChuckNorris: Those seem like good numbers. Anything over 20 million sperm is good (so he's got mucho extra), motility means that after 60 minutes, 64% were swimming (also good). Your mophology must be different than here. DH's said anything over 4% normal sperm was good (they probably use a stricter criteria). All in all, it sounds good! Also you can think of it this way: almost 50 million sperm (per mL) are being let loose! That's a lot! Congrats!
apricot / 368 posts
@Grace: Ah, thanks so much! I cannot begin to tell you how much this has helped me mentally. I've heard the 4% thing before too... I will have to ask my RE about that. If it's really 4%, than I feel really good. But if it's really 30%, I'm a little concerned about his being 31%. Haha. Either way, like you said, I feel much better having that off the table. Thanks (on behalf of my DH, who I'm not sure would be happy I'm sharing some down and dirty details on his man juice on the internet! hehe)
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ChuckNorris: Wait, how far north/rural are you? (I grew up outside Sac) Have you checked the SART listings? There are people who travel to IVF clinics - and I actually considered faraway clinics, despite having 4 within minutes of me. But, I'm hoping it won't ever come down to that for you!
honeydew / 7916 posts
@Grace: @ChuckNorris: I think 4% is a criteria called Kruger or strict, and the 30% is WHO.
apricot / 368 posts
@spaniellove: What's SART listings? The only acronym meaning I know for SART is sexual abuse reporting teams... Luckily, my clinical team is not a SART performing one. So sad!!
Yeah, we could travel there... Especially because we have family living in Sac (whoot whoot! I grew up outside there too! 916 fa life =) okay I'm really not like that haha), so we could stay with them. But, it would be about the time we plan to move anyway (we live in Redding now). I absolutely hate that drive, it just drags on for-EVER! Since we were planning to move in a few years anyway, we will just move to a place near an IVF clinic instead of an even more rural area, which is something we had thought about. But of course, this is very far down the road... We couldn't afford IVF until after I'm done with nursing school anyway, and that's a few years yet.
So which one is more widely accepted, strict or WHO? What are the differences? I'll Google too. Sorry to be picking the crap out of your brain tonight!! lol
honeydew / 7916 posts
@ChuckNorris: Oooomygod, my cousins lived in Redding and my grandparents used to take me to visit them a couple times a year. The drive was so long and boring that I learned to read watching the road signs! Has it gotten any more modernized? I was surprised to see it on TV during the Olympics with Ryan Hall and a soccer player being from there.
Here's the SART database: http://www.sart.org/find_frm.html
DH's urologist requested strict criteria but the lab didn't do it. I think it's a lot more tedious to do? If you take a look around you'll see both numbers used, and 31% is most likely not a problem. Not normal is our 10% motility, which you can see is really really far off from normal. The lab pointed out that they weren't just not moving, they were dead.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@ChuckNorris: I've read that they don't worry about morphology that much (unless it's ridiculously low). Morphology also seems to have an impact on motility, so is his are still moving, it's probably fine. When do you see your RE next?
pear / 1974 posts
@spaniellove: Originally from River Edge (between Paramus and Hackensack, if you know the area) and moved down to the Jersey Shore to Point Pleasant when I got married 2 years ago! My mom lives in the Korean mecca of NJ - Palisades Park - are you in NJ also??
honeydew / 7916 posts
@chibee: Yes, I'm near Cherry Hill! Don't know if you're familiar at all with that area.

@Chibee: Your chart is looking amazing! Crossing my fingers for you.
pear / 1974 posts
@ambular1025: is it?? I was definitely expecting a drop today, but I am still 1-3 days away from AF so I'm cautiously keeping my expectations low. Hope I don't start spotting today.. I started spotting at around 12 dpo last cycle..
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@chibee: I vote that it's a great chart too! Did you make it through the day without spotting?
pear / 1974 posts
@Grace: thank you! made it through 12 dpo with no spotting! BUT i realized something, through stalking my two charts. Last cycle, I wasn't temping but kept the chart, and used OPKs. I did a manual override and said I ovulated on the first day of the negative OPK after 2 days of positive, just because I figured you O after an LH surge. But this cycle, FF put my real O day on the first day of the 2 positive OPKs I got, so if that's true, my last cycle i had 14 days in the LP. WHICH means, I actually started spotting at 14 dpo, not 12 dpo. Sorry for the rambling, but this just means i have 2 more days to go!!! ugh!
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@chibee: Well, I guess the good thing about that is you have a normal LP. Are you going to test early, or hold out until you are late?
apricot / 368 posts
@spaniellove: The drive is the same - Hell!!!! How funny that you have been here, it's so small when I go places I often just say we are from Sacramento. Lol. I've gotten to the point where I get creative while driving... It's awful!!!! lol. Thank you for sharing that site, I checked it out... I really want to move to Novato when I am done with school. Like, a LOT. I didn't know there were fertility clinics over there, so now that is definitely back on the table if it comes to that! I'm so sorry about the lab =/ That had to have been tough to hear.
@Grace: I see him next on Thursday (two more days! I can't wait!). I'm trying to convince DH to come since my RE keeps saying to bring him in, but DH is worried that he will feel weird when the guy is all up in my vag doing the swab... Which I think I can understand, but what if we end up needed to do IUI? I will be needing to do lots of pelvic exams/transvaginal ultrasounds I'm sure!! lol
Thank you both for all your help with figuring out his SA... My RE is always happy at how I come to the appointment armed with knowledge and I have you guys to thank for that
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@ChuckNorris: I'm sure your DH can wait in the waiting room while they are doin such stuff? Lots of times drs want people out of the room when they are doing stuff anyways.

PSA: Don't stop charting if your a type A personality. I am on CD28. Had signs of O on CD 23. However, blood in my CM this morning. Because I stopped charting I have no idea why!! Is it ovulation, implantation bleeding, or my period?! Period is not likely since I'm still having 35+ cycles. Aggggh!!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@jojogirl: Isn't 5dpo a little early? I know there is a chance I did O at any point though. It was bright red and so far I haven't had anymore. We will see what the next 24 hours brings. I'm ok with it being ovulation, I'm WAY ok with it being implantation, I'm not okay with my period! Hopefully God hears my prefrences!
grapefruit / 4079 posts
@grace @jojogirl: I don't have anymore bleeding so my guess is ovulation maybe. I am trying to talk myself down from thinking implantation. I have been randomly taking a temp here or there and they've higher like typical post o temps so...
