If your work does discretionary bonuses at the end of the year, did any one receive one after having taken maternity leave? I'm just a month back after having taken a three month maternity leave and am wondering if I will get a bonus this year.

My neighbour just got hers, which I found shocking because as a Canadian she's been on mat leave for literally the entire year.

@T.H.O.U.: I would be happy with anything. I was so happy to just have 3 months off of work that a bonus on top would be a dream.
@erinbaderin: That's amazing.

I did back in 2014. I left for maternity leave at the end of October, received a bonus in December, and went back at the end of January.

Mine isn't prorated, but I will receive a prorated bonus this year.

Yes, mine is prorated. For my most recent mat leave I only worked for 1 month out of the year and i still received a prorated amount. While i was away on mat leave i received the full bonus amount because i worked the entire year prior to going on leave.
It would suck if you didn't get a bonus because you were off for only 3 months.

I am in the middle of at leave and did not get a bonus because I didn't meet my billable hour requirement (lawyer), but I just found out I got the same annual raise as everyone else at my level. So that's good.

I got mine while I was still on maternity leave. They always come the second week of December and I didn't return to work until January 2.... It was a bit lower due to the leave of absence (ugh), but I still go tit.

Yes, both years when I was on leave I was out in December but got the bonus anyway. It was really nice and I wasn't expecting it, especially the second time when I took longer leave.

I'm getting mine (tomorrow, yay!) but it is prorated. Basically I'll be getting a bonus for three quarters. I was out 16 weeks.

Our end of year bonus is the same for all employees who worked full time the year leading up to it. They do deduct though if you've taken maternity leaved during that time. They also offer a merit bonus later on and this was my best one yet even though I was on maternity leave for 10 weeks this year.

@erinbaderin: I got one too, when I was on mat leave in Canada. It was from August to August, so it was prorated, since I was only back for 4 months.

I got mine while on maternity leave! I already knew it was coming (heard from a coworker when they made bonus announcements at the office), but the owners of my company sent me a letter in the mail to tell me to expect it.

yup, i still got one as if i was there the whole time. my maternity leave was end of August through end of november and we get bonuses in december so i was only back like 2-3 weeks before we got them.

Update on me: I received a prorated bonus. I won't complain (out loud)! =)
