I'm wondering how much you tip your house cleaners for Christmas. Also, I have two women who come to my house each time. One is the owner of the company and the other is a friend of hers. They are the only two people who work for the company. Should I give the tip to the owner and let her share with her friend, or should I tip them each separately?

We give double one payment - ours comes every two weeks and we pay $120, so for Christmas, we just write a check for $240.
If I were you, I'd probably just put the total you're going to give in a card/envelope and put both of their names on it - then leave them to split it.

We also tip an extra payment. And baked goods if I've had the chance to make any.

@raspberries: Question, do they charge $120 flat and that's what you pay each month? We are charged $100 a time and always give an extra $10-$20 so I feel like I've already given her the equivalent of an extra payment. But still think I'll give her a little extra.

I’m also doing a double payment. That seems to be the consensus. It’s a flat rate every time and since she set that rate, I never pay above that unless there is some extra work- like we had our foyer painted and even though I tried to. Lean it, there was still extra dust everywhere. @Mommy Finger:

Last year, we gave $150 amazon gift card (which is what we pay per visit). I think this year we will do $100 because money is a little tighter right now, and also because we've discovered that most people don't actually tip their cleaners (we do every time).
@Mommy Finger: This is us, too. Our cleaner charges $120 and we always give her $30 in tips in addition, plus a holiday gift. Seems like most people don't tip normally but give a holiday gift. So I don't feel too bad reducing our holiday gift a little.

We pay $150 for a bi-weekly clean but always give the girls an additional tip (usually $30 because 3 girls come). We will also tip a whole week's pay at the holidays. (so the last time they come we will tip $150).

We will double her usual payment and leave a nice thank you note. Plus maybe some cookies if I ever get a minute to make some!

@Mommy Finger: Yeah, the $120 is just what she charges each time. If you're already tipping a bit each week, I'd probably just give a slightly bigger than usual tip for the holidays (so if you give $15 extra each time, I'd maybe give a $30 tip for the holidays.)

Interesting some of you tip each time...do these people you tip work for a service?
I have never left a tip. My cleaning lady is self employed and I am fairly certainly she is not claiming the taxes. So I figure - she set the rate no need for me to pay her extra.
To answer the Christmas question, we pay her $90/bi weekly. My plan is to buy her some slippers from PB and stuff them with $90 and a starbucks giftcard. Its a bit more than what I would normally do (just $90 cash) but she is a young mom so I want to get HER something in addition to the cash, since I want to make sure she gets to enjoy some of the gift directly.

@Mrs D: I understand all of what you are saying about not tipping the cleaning lady. At some point I started to tip $20 on top of the $100 I pay for each visit. My cleaning lady is a working mom with three young kids. I think her mom owns the cleaning business. I frequently switch up her days and always ask that it be her that cleans my house, and not any of the other girls in their little company. I just like adding a little tip to be nice and appreciative of her help.

we have 2 ladies come every week. They picked the price when they started the job, and we agreed to it (it is not a service). Because of this, we do not tip them each week.
We will be giving them a double payment this week (ie: a "bonus" week's pay), and are intentionally doing it now so that it can go towards holiday gifts,etc if they so choose.

she comes biweekly so i'm giving her an extra payment's bonus with her name and her assistant's name on it. they are such a help to us and i want to show my appreciation!

I pay $90 bi weekly. So I'm going to double it and round up...$200. I don't ever tip her except before thanksgiving.

Hmm we pay $50 per week. She's cleaning right before Christmas for us so maybe I'll give $100 for that time?
She's super nice, invited me to her house to looks through some of her antiques she thought were my style and gave them to me for free. Maybe I should get her a gift card as well for a coffee shop..

I also double the payment. We pay $120 every 2 weeks so the next time she comes I will give her $240 instead.

We have a team of 3 come and have always left a gift equivalent to the cost of a visit at Christmas time. But we use a company and I had been under the impression that I was getting the same (or mostly the same) people each time, and this year that has definitely not been the case - its different every week. I'll probably leave the same, but I feel weird about it now cause it seems like it maybe luck of the draw who was there that week. Hopefully they share these things across all employees...
