I know the last time I posted about circumcision things got a bit intense. I don't want this post to be a debate at all, I'm just wondering how you take care of/ clean an uncircumcised penis? We're leaning towards not circumcising but I was wondering if you need to do anything special to keep from developing problems. Thanks!

Good question! I don't know because I have a girl and if I did have a boy we'd circumsize for religious reasons.... but I never thought of what people do who don't.

I have a girl, but I would assume you would just pull down the extra skin and make sure it's clean underneath?

I just wash it with soap for now. Once the foreskin retracts, you can teach your LO how to clean it himself (or clean it yourself if he's too young).

@chopsuey119: That extra skin often takes time to retract! Until it does, you can just clean the outside...

It's SO so easy. There's really very little to it. I just wipe down all around it, wipe the top and underneath at the base. The only thing you can't do is pull back the skin at the front of the penis. Otherwise you wash everything else with a wipe.
@chopsuey119: it hasn't for me. I don't see how it would be possible either. I mean honestly, it doesn't even look "weird" to me.

It is super easy, you don't retract anything (as a baby), just wipe it with a wipe, I just give it a quick wipe with a wet cloth/wipe. Once the foreskin is retracted (usually after the LO starts playing with their penis), you would gently retract and wipe underneath. Usually by the time the foreskin is retracted they are old enough to start teaching self-care.
