T is 14 months and for a month has been showing signs of wanting to drop his afternoon nap. At daycare he'd catnap in the morning and then always took a long nap from 1-3. At home he always had 2 good naps - up for the day at 6 and naps at 9 and 2. He's been out of daycare a few weeks and home with me and simply does not fall asleep for his p.m. nap. He'll stay awake for 45 mins to an hour and if he does fall asleep will only sleep 30-40 mins and will wake up crying. Sometimes he wouldn't nap for a whole hour so I'd take him for a quick cat nap stroller ride. His morning nap was still pretty solid though.

This week I've been trying 1 nap most days. One day he had 2 naps because he did fall asleep in the stroller in the morning (oops). But on one nap he is barely napping as long as his morning nap used to be. Today up for the day at 6:30 - he was definitely tired by 11:30. We started nap routine, etc. But then he whined and fussed for 15 mins before falling asleep at 12:15. And he only slept til 1:35. His morning nap used to be an hour and 30 mins! He is sleeping a little longer at night, but I think at this age, he really should be sleeping longer for his one nap. Bed time is 7:30 or 8. I can't put him down earlier because he will just wake up earlier (Weissbluth was wrong about that one for us).

Final note: we are not at home. We are at my mother in laws. We are in the process of a cross-country move and on vacation here for another week. But his night sleep has been great.

Thoughts? Should I keep trying 1 nap? Is my timing bad? Does it just take longer to catching on to sleeping longer for one nap? Thank you!
