I'm not sure about the growth charts but I do know that an ebf baby should be gaining an average of 3-7 ounces per week which kind of hives you a starting point to work from.

I'd also imagine that as long as your wee babe is gaining well, looking well and meeting milestones then you're all good!

Because she was a preemie, they should be using her adjusted age to track her growth. I use the iPhone app Growth and you can put in their due date and use that instead.

My DD wasn't a preemie and she weighs a bit less than yours and she is 2 months old. Nobody seems concerned about her weight. I think almost 10lbs at 1 month adjusted sounds great!!

I can't speak to the preemie angle, but my twins were small (4lb15 and 5lb15) so i supplemented with 24 cal/oz formula in addition to nursing. Our dr wanted us to use the 24 cal/oz formula until my kids reached the 10th percentile (which ended up being ~6 months or so). I have no idea if that was an arbitrary % or was important for some other reason? Are you working with an LC? Maybe she can give you a 2nd opinion on L's weight gain and where you should go from here for supplementing.

@Torchwood: that sounds great. My twins were 30 weekers. And their ped had their preemie chart to track their growth and compares that to the full-term chart. Just to show they are on track and will eventually get onto the other chart not to put any pressure for them to gain more weight.. They are ebf. No shows of concern at all for their growth. They go by their adjusted age for growth with their ped.

Didn't have a premie but my daughter gains about a pound a month and that has been consistent from birth. She was born just under 7lbs and 9.5 lbs at 2 months. Doctor was never concerned. Mama knows best, listen to your gut. I always felt if she was gaining, having dirty diapers, happy and meeting milestones we were good to go! That mindset hasn't failed me yet.

I have to admit to stopping fortification without checking with my pediatrician because we were mid move and I couldn't get an appointment and it became clear to me that LO was dairy allergic and the fortification was a problem. All this to say that when I did get into the new pediatrician LO was still gaining great on unfortified breastmilk and she said Mama made the right call. We had a doctor who never remembered to use an adjusted chart. Drove. Me. Nuts.
