I still find it hard to separate my image of the character Dr. Huxtable with Bill Cosby. As all these sexual allegations from rich, famous and powerful people emerge I just cant feel so confused. What causes this to even happen, I always thought people with all that money and influence would have no trouble finding consensual partners

I think it’s about power rather than not finding consensual partners. It’s about being able to do whatever they want without consequence because they’re famous and getting off on that. And TBH given the amount of times this has come up over past months, I’m starting to think that almost any man of fame or influence possibly has this going on behind the scenes. Maybe not to this degree, but shady stuff nonetheless.

I agree with @muffinsmuffins. Sexual assault and rape is about power, not sex. It's tied to our history of a misogynistic and patriarchal society, male entitlement, etc etc. There are certain people I'm disappointed to hear this stuff about, but at this point I'm never surprised, sadly.

Yeah, I agree with previous posters. He didn't want consensual partners. He wanted to inflict pain and have power and control.

I am so glad this stuff is finally being addressed. I hope it eventually catches up with the cheeto in chief too. It's disgusting and has gone on for too long. Men need to be held accountable for their behavior instead of having society turn a blind eye and reinforce their entitlement.
Look at how many times complaints were buried by the US Gynmastics team management. And that doctor wasn't even famous. It's disgusting and I am thrilled that women are finding their voices and fighting back.
Btw Cosby's verdict certainly took long enough!

@ElbieKay: Yes that's what makes it terrible is poeople looking the other way. I was really disappointed by the way the the olympics gym management handled Dr Nassar's abuse over so many years.
