I am currently 17 weeks pregnant with my first, I am using a midwife and plan on having a home birth. Unfortunately our insurance doesn't cover any of this or ultrasounds, bleh. Has anyone else had to pay for the anatomy scan out of pocket? If so how much did it cost? Were you able to set up a payment plan? Ill be talking to my midwife about this also, but just wanted to hear if anyone had any personal experience. Thanks!

I think most of my ultrasounds have been in the 300 dollar range.

Got a bill for mine last week, $220.

I hadn't met my deductible yet so mine was $1,200, $1,000 for the scan and $200 for the radiologist to look over it. I also live in a high cost of living area so it might just be more expensive out here.

We've just switched to a high-deductible plan and learned that scans with the OB cost $250.

A scan at my OB's office is about $300 out of pocket. However, there is a local ultrasound place that does gender reveals and 4D ultrasounds for $80.

My anatomy scan was a little under $300.

From the responses and my own experience it seems like it may vary greatly by OB. Mine billed 738 and after "network discounts" I owed 438. I have an individual health plan.

For my 20 week u/s my ob billed insurance 325 for the regular one and 300 for the transvaginal. After network discounts I paid 350 out of pocket for both, I also have a hdhp

We had to have our anatomy scan at maternal fetal medicine this year (so it wasn't included as part of global billing) and the charge was ~$1200.

If you tell them you are paying out of pocket they will often charge you less. But you have to ask.

Ours were over 1K before insurance adjustment. With DD we paid for most of it because it was early in the calendar year and we have a high deductible plan.

Thanks for the input! Hopefully I'll get this all ironed out with my midwife this week. Babies are expensive!
