Anyone dressing up at work for Halloween? My office is having a costume contest, with pretty decent prizes! I have NO idea what to dress up as. Apparently people get pretty clever and funny with their costumes.
Any ideas? Anyone else dressing up?

hahahaha no. I'm sure I could if I wanted to, but I'd be alone in my shenanigan's.
We are not fun like that. I DO see a lot of people dressed up on Halloween though, so their offices must do something.

I'm following this just to see others' suggestions.
We haven't traditionally dressed up at work, but some have pushed for it and we were given the ok this year.
I think everyone's afraid of being the only person to dress up though. So if I do anything, I want to be able to easily blend back into my everyday look

@MaryM: Whenever I dress up I just do all black clothes (not unusual for me) + cat ears. Super original, I know

My best work costume ever was a flower garden. I wore brown work pants and a green cardigan. I used tissue paper I already had at home to make some flowers. I pinned some flowers to my cardigan, put one on a headband and made a bracelet with another. It was totally free, original and not too hard!

@swurlygurl: do you wTch The Office? I would dress up as someone one of the characters dressed up as!

I used to work in an office where everyone dressed up. It was fun! Now, I don't...
My friend and her 2 coworkers went as the 3 blind mice.. gray clothes, ears, sunglasses, cane. It was cute and work appropriate. A group of my teacher friends did the ninja turtles this past week. I'm sure there will be a lot of those this Friday!

I work from home But I might dress up if I bring the kids into my husband's work on Friday!

I'm a SAHM now but I always dressed up when I was teaching and when I worked for a law firm. The law firm used to go all out for Halloween. My boss was obsessed. We usually did group costumes.

I used to, but I don't think I will this year. I just can't think of anything comfortable to wear.

Not dressing up but one of our smaller branches (10 people) dressed up as timbits (donut holes) and the manager's husband made a giant timbit box for them to stand in. Made the best costume for sure.

@babycanuck: bahaha, that is amazing!
My office sent out a note saying people can dress up, but I'm not sure I will. I'm kind of new, so I may just see what other people do this year. Or maybe I'll bring some animal ears or witch hat for a minimal outfit, haha.

I'm not wearing a full on costume, but this headband should be pretty fun. Pier 1 has spider rings for $8 and once I get that my look is done.

My job is having a Halloween potluck and costume contest. I think I am going as a bridesmaid. Or a Moll.

I work at a hospital and departments like to dress up and "compete" for the best group costumes. It's also because we are connected with a children's hospital and the kids walk around to the main areas in a parade, and we want to look festive for them. We're going to be the teenage mutant ninja turtles!

Me and 3 of my friends are being the TMNT (teenage mutant ninja turtles).. home made costumes We painted silver baking pans and will where them like backpacks/shells and are wearing green t-shirts, colored headbands/armbands and carrying their weapons

I saw a Pinterest or Instagram with someone dressed up as 50 Shades of Grey --- with a shirt covered in grey paint swatches. In the right office environment I think that would be hilarious!

I'm on maternity leave right now so no dressing up this year, but my work gets pretty into it! My group usually does a theme. One year we did sound of music, one year was toy story, last year was an Olympic curling team!

I work in a high school, and I think we CAN dress up but we just had spirit week last week and I am kind of over dressing up.

@cmomma17: Oh my goodness, so cute and totally doable!
@babycanuck: HAHA! That's hilarious!!
@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I have a very dramatic headband like that (kind of reminds of something I'd wear to a funeral, except it's SO gaudy!). It would be easy to dress it up with a hat and spiders...
@Mrs. D: Cuuute! I wish I could get DH to do a family costume. DD1 is going to be Minnie, DD2 Mickey... We could go from there but DH is a fun-hater
@MaisyMay: Haha, ummm, what is a Moll? I looked it up and got this: "Moll or Mole /ˈmoʊl/ is Australian and New Zealand slang, usually pejorative or self-deprecating, for a woman of loose sexual morals, a bitch, a slut or a prostitute"
@yerpie110: @Ajsmommy: @mauxie: TMNT would be so fun! This compilation is cracking me up http://www.bigdiyideas.com/homemade-diy-teenage-mutant-ninja-turtle-costumes/
@hellobeeboston: Hahaha! That's pretty funny. I think it might be a little too risque for my office... pretty easy to pull together though!
@Littlebit: Woah - those are awesome group costumes! Sounds like it takes a lot of effort!
@blackbird: Haha, that's what I usually do - really wanting to win though.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: No, I don't I should go check it out though, I'm sure the internets has pulled together some list from The Office though

It was my first Halloween at work and they rented out a bowling place and we had to dress up.. I wasn't going to since I didn't want to get a costume, someone gave me this sparkly dress & headpiece and I went as cleopetra.

No costumes here, we are too "boring" to do anything. Although I'm sure if we did, I would just throw on some animals ears and wear black

I work for a company that manufacturers dance recital costumes. Halloween is the best day of the year everyone dresses up and we have a big potluck party.
I've been
Mr. Bubbles, Smurfette, a baby, a barbie bust, carmen sandiego, miss piggy, a pirate, a devil, a gypsy, a construction worker, and a chef (Fi was a sushi roll)
I've got tons of ideas for you, here are some of the best that i can remember over the years from our office,
a dust bunny, a dress form, medusa, a plate of spaghetti and meatballs, titanic survivor, flapper, an owl, a league of their own, a parrot, a washing machine, the painting "the scream," where's waldo, Marvin the martian, a can of coors lite, roller derby player..... i could go on and on

@swurlygurl: haha, not quite. It is more of a gangster's girl from the Roaring 20's, so sleeveless black dress with a filmy skirt, dark lipstick, and a black net fascinator. But the heels that match my teal dress are more comfy, so I will probably be a bridesmaid instead, plus I cannot find my headpiece right now.

I work from home on Friday, some people always do We usually have Casual Fridays anyway and with Halloween on Friday this year? I kind of wish I was coming in the office!

My standby costume (if I am FORCED to dress up) is some white wings I bought years ago, a white shirt (and white pants if I'm really into it) and a halo made out of tinfoil. TA-DAAA! Hahaha I am into the low-maintenance looks. I doubt I will wear anything this Friday. Sometimes I feel like I only have a shred of dignity left at work and I'd like to maintain it.

Four of us are dressing up as toddlers. One of the girls made us pillowcase dresses, we will wear tight and have our hair in pigtails and carry teddy bears. It will be so fun!

My "work safe" costume is Sriracha hot sauce (well not exactly, knock off for copyright reasons LOL).
I wear red leggings and a red cardigan with it so it's less "sexy".

As a backup, I always just have a pair of black kitty ears.
