Not a chance. We need our cars to get to work.

If we lived in the city we could, but we live so far from everything that we really have to have two cars. When we're back overseas we won't have one at all - but we won't really need one there.

We had one vehicle for a couple of years since I was able to take public transportation to work. We loved the ease and cost savings. When we moved to a new state we needed a second car, though, since my husband travels for work by car.

I work from home, and we make it work with one car now because we're saving up for work my Jeep needs to be safe. So if I had an EMERGENCY and needed to drive like, a mile or less, I could drive it, but the brakes are bad and there are a few leaks. I haven't driven it in about 2 months? We are going to need to fix it soon though because my work will be PAYING for our Camry (!!!) if I drive that for work trips instead of rental cars, and pay for gas out of pocket and get reimbursed. So that will save us but then my husband will need to use the Jeep those days. We have a friend who will work on it for free just parts, so a month or two of no car payments should do the trick! It helps that work is somewhat flexible so I can grocery shop during the day, etc.

we've done it, but i'd rather not. now DH works outside the area where public transit serves, so he'd have to get a job closer to a pubic transit stop. i have to have a car for work so i can't get rid of mine.

We only have one car. We had two and realized that I drove it twice in six months. Sold it and haven't looked back. Granted we live a stones throw from the subway and have everything I need in walking distance.

We have lived with one car for a few months. We also have a motorcycle. It was doable but not fun.

I never ever thought it would be an option until it became necessary and we made it work!

DH got into an accident, ins wouldn't cover it and it cost too much to fix on our own, the car was worth less than the damage.

We were both working FT at the time, in addition I worked two other pt jobs. So I would drive DH 30 mins to work, drive to my job which was 30 mins opposite direction. Go to my next job 5 miles away, then drive back to pick up DH.

We spent a lot of time waiting around for the other, we often had opposite shifts.

After a few months we Finally we moved two miles away from dh's work. Before we had LO I would drop him off and pick him up and then I had the car during the day. If I ever couldn't get him for some reason, we were close enough to home that he could walk. Once I had DS I could no longer drop him off/pick him up because he worked 3 nights a week and I wouldn't wake DS up at 10:30 to drive two miles. So being a SAHM without a car has had it's challenges.

Last March we bought him a bike and now whenever it's not snowing, raining or too cold, he bikes to work and that allows me to have the car. This winter has been the worst though: stuck at home with LO all week since DH can't bike. It's been really cold.

But we make it work and its so worth it. We save gas and we save ins money.

No, we both have long commutes!

We could make it work, but it would be very, very difficult. DH could metro to work, but it would make for 2-3 hours of commuting every day. I could be stuck here with no car, but then we would use time in our already packed weekends running errands. Plus, having a car helps me get out of the house, aka. Fight depression. It's worth it for us to have two.

Nope, DH and I commute in opposite directions!

We sold our second vehicle about 3 months ago because we'd only drive it to move spots to avoid a ticket. Haven't missed it at all! But I take transit to work. If we relocate as planned we'll probably get another one.

We live in the suburbs and we both have jobs, so we each need a car.

We have one car. I am at home and he works nights, so I wouldn't be able to go out when he has the car anyway. I mean, he leaves at 5:30 and the baby is in bed by 6 so it's really no hardship.

We have one car. It's not too bad. DH has a flexible work schedule, so it's no big deal when he comes in at 9:30 and leaves at 4:30.

Our work schedules overlap alot so we need two cars. Plus we each have so much to do, being at home with errands to run while he is at work with the car just doesn't work. We only use his car when we are together though to cut down as much as we can.

My husband commutes 15 miles round trip by bike to work. We only have one car!
