I hate to spend $30 on a pair of shoes that my toddler will outgrow in a few months, but I see so many kids in them. Are they really that awesome? Or just a trendy thing?

I was really opposed but was gifted a pair and I LOVE them.
1. They were the easiest shoes for him to take off/put on himself
2. Other than when it's snowy, they work for most seasons.
3. They can get wet, so we took them on a beach vacation.
4. I've never worn them, but word is they are comfortable, and when given the option, DS usually picks them.
I was able to use that pair for over a year, and this current pair is likely to last at least that long as well, so it's been a good investment for us.

As an adult, I love them. They were the perfect shoes for me to wear as a hostess at a restaurant where I had to mop and go into the kitchen (where there may have been water). They are super comfortable, and I definitely think I will get H a pair next summer as her go-to shoe.

I bought some at Walmart for $6 and they are the best thing I've bought him so far this summer! I don't think the kids need the brand name crocs, when there are perfectly functional ones for much cheaper!

We love them. They are water proof, comfortable, and easy to take on and off. He basically has one pair per year. He didn't wear them in winter. They tend to last longer than other shoes size wise. It's like one pair fits two sizes. We have the traditional style. Not sure how girl styles would differ.

I have a pair of Crocs flip flops, and while I don't wear them out of the house, I wear them as my "inside shoes" when I'm on my feet a lot. Think doing dishes, cooking, baking, cleaning, and they're so incredibly comfortable. My heels were hurting from the extra weight from pregnancy, and they helped so much.
I got them after DH (who has Plantar Fasciitis) got a pair to also wear around the house, and he said it's helped with his foot pain a ton.
With that said, we bought a pair for LO and he wouldn't wear them! So frustrating, but we may try again when he's older!

I got LO a pair from Target for this summer since my sister swore by them for her DS. I would probably stick with cheap ones until you see if they work for your LO's feet. I have a pair of Mary Jane crocs that I love for the beach, the pool, etc.

I was basically forced into buying them on our last vacation (LO refused to wear the Keens I bought for her, and the only shoes her size that the cruise carried were crocs). I hated paying for them too but just this morning I was talking about getting her another pair in the next size up because we love them so much. They are easy to clean, easy for LO to take off and put on, she can wear them in the rain or around water, she can wear them with socks or without socks, and each pair spans two sizes so they last a long time. Plus LO really loves them so I assume they are comfy for her.

Love them but we bought all of ours used. I used to hate them, but lo can put his shoes on himself now and he has no trouble running and climbing in them. I got a used pair yesterday for $8 that were still in great shape.

um, no because i personally think they're not cute. ha! i love natives as an alternative and those have absolutely been worth the price every time. my husband hates kids shoes and rates natives as a 5 out of 5 stars. we've had them in every size since DD has been walking! we purchased the last two pairs on sale and i'm on the lookout for another sale for the next size up.

We go back and forth from natives and crocs. We are fans of both in our house as summer shoes. DS is in between sizes in crocs right now though so it's natives this season. I bought all of DS' past crocs/natives on sale though for around $20 a pair! And it's his daily summer shoe, def worth it!

I bought all my sons on consignment or through eBay! Love them but no I wouldn't pay 30

Ours were hand me downs. I don't love how they look, but my DD can put them on and take them off by herself while I'm getting DS ready to go, so that's huge for me. Also love not having to worry about them getting dirty and they must be comfortable because she always chooses to wear them!

@2PeasinaPod: I love my croc flip flops! I also really only wear them at home because they aren't super cute. But I did wear them to Disney World and my feet never hurt! I just wish they were cuter.

(no kids yet, but know lots who wear crocs)
I would agree that the ease of use is worth it to see ugly shoes. But wouldn't pay full price. If you're near an outlet, that would be worth it.

@BabyBoecksMom: yeah we love them. There's an outlet out in those cy-fair outlets.

Ya, we love Crocs and Natives! Crocs are easier for LO to put on and take off!

@travellingbee: Oooh I didn't even think about getting them at an outlet - good call!

Yes DD loves them, so easy and perfect for summer weather/water parks/beaches. She wears hers all spring and summer long!

I wear them. They have outlet stores and also have them at TJ Maxx and Ross for better prices.

I'm not a huge fan but I got ds a pair and they're so cute, he's able to put them on himself and they rinse clean!

I was a hater but now I love them....DD can get them on and off by herself and they are so durable! I bought them off http://www.6pm.com Much cheaper!! I think the basic clog ones are $19 and sometimes even less!

We got a pair as a hand me down and, while I hate the look, they were great summer playground shoes! I wouldn't pay $30 for them though as I think they are hideous.
grapefruit / 4997 posts
@lamariniere: I agree! I think they are so ugly but we were gifted a pair and DD really likes them. They seem really comfortable for her and she doesn't want to pull it off while we are in the car.

So I was a big crocs hater before I had kids because I do NOT think they are even remotely cute.
However, we ended up with a pair as a gift and we took them on a beach vacation and I was SOLD. They are the best summer shoe ever! It's awesome that they are comfy (my kids love the textured foot bed), lots of kids can put them on themselves, and they can get wet and just rinsed off.
Lately we've been buying the Croc Keeley sandal. They have an open toe (my kids like better), are super easy on/off (velcro), but are cuter than the usual croc. We just bought our third pair! They are much cheaper on amazon, and there's a purple pair online at REI for $16.

DD has been in a pair since she started walking. It rains a lot around here so I bought her the rainboots and she loves them. I think it's because they're so light and easy to put on herself. My mom has been getting them for her every year (2 sizes up because it seems to work best for her chubby feet).
This year, she was also gifted the slip-ons and she loves those as well, but going by the Crocs comfy fit guide, I'd also get them a size up (but maybe just 1 size). Hers now fit just right and it seems small for the type of shoe it is.
Even if we weren't gifted them, I'd buy them every year for comfort.

As a teacher, I live in these since I can not wear flip flops. I bought them when I was pregnant and I've never looked back.
Next year when LO is better at walking he will be getting a pair.

@SugarplumsMom: my girl has chunky, wide feet. Should I try the regular fit or go wider? I don't want them slipping and giving her blisters
@Rainbow Sprinkles: those are adorable! I think I'm going to have to get them

Our daycare actually has a policy against sending kiddos in with crocs because they say they aren't good for climbing and such, so I've stayed away from them. I'd love to hear from others though if they haven't had that issue! We have a pair of stride right water proof shoes but they take forever to dry
pomelo / 5524 posts
@Mamasig: I know...that's the only drawback. They are so incredibly comfortable, just not really all that cute. And the "normal" crocs that DH wears are just plain hideous!
bananas / 9227 posts
@BabyBoecksMom: We have it in regular and I think it's wide enough for DD. The wide fit (in a regular size) is one of the things I like the most.

I like them for gardening and water play. They are sooooo ugly, but I have a soft spot in my heart for them since I used to live near where they were originally made in Colorado. I used to drive through Niwot every day on my way to college.
For the boys I've bought the knock offs since I'm cheap I'd love a pair of Native's for myself, but haven't found the color I want for the cost involved.
honeydew / 7488 posts
My kids do like their crocs. I buy them on sale in their next size. The main drawback is that they are not safe near escalators, as there have been many accidents involving the rubber getting caught and little feet getting mangled. Not a shoe to wear to the mall, etc. Also, with regards to playground wear, they are awesome for climbing because they are grippy. But they are terrible for getting pebbles, mulch, and other playground ground cover, in the shoes.

I do not love the way they look (especially on adults), but DS asked for a pair when we saw them at Nordstrom Rack. They were a good price and since he specifically asked, I couldn't say no. Now he LIVES in them. He loves them, so I can't really argue with that.
