I have a feeling I'll be feeling the same in a few weeks. I'm due in 7 weeks, and I'm already mourning the loss of some of my quality time with DD1. I'm trying to use every last second of our Christmas holiday to give her as much mommy time as she wants.

Hang in there. I'm sure it will get easier in time!

I feel you. It gets better. I cried all the time about the life I felt I wasn't giving both of my girls for probably the first 9 months. The guilt is intense and it's hard to work your way through when your kids so obviously need you so so much. Hugs mama. It not only gets better but you're doing a great job. You have a great bond with your DD and your relationship will come through without a scratch. She likely won't remember any of it at all and you're likely projecting more feelings on to her than she may actually be having.

It's hard, but it gets better. I try to have special time during naps and my oldest really loves it.

@snowjewelz: It gets better! My baby is 7 months and it's so much easier now. I would say 5-6 months it got noticeably easier logistically. Once the baby started to do things like sit up, play with toys, sit at the high chair during meals it was easier to see how he fits into our new family dynamic instead of feeling so torn between them. It's still hard sometimes but I don't have that same crushing mom guilt. And seeing them interact and laugh together is the best!

Hang in there! It definitely is hard in the beginning, but I promise it gets better! And when DD2 is old enough that they can really play together, you'll know it was all worth it!

@FaithFertility: For us, it started as early as when Logan was able to sit up and roll a ball back and forth with Xander, but it's really taken off in the last 6 months or so! Now it's all "Logan, here, you can have this!" and "I'll play with you, Logan!" and the two of them just being in Xander's room playing trains together. Love love love!

Empathizing over here! I miss my 1x1 time with my DS1.

@snowjewelz: This is extremely hard for me too! I have been home with DD1 for most of her life and she definitely has a strong Mommy preference. I just try to make sure she bonds with DH and I let rules slide a little (extra screen time and treats/ little toys for the win). I want her to have a nice day every day even if we aren't out and about/ she doesn't have my full attention.

I feel bad but at the same time DD1 loooooooves her little sister and I know it will be special for her to have a relationship with a sibling even if it's hard on everyone right now. DD2 is almost 2 months old and she obviously adores her big sister as well. Watching them smile at each other helps me realize it's all worth it.
