When I had my 8 week ultrasound, the tech mentioned something about a cyst or something on my ovary but made it sound like it was super normal/expected with pregnancy. Maybe something to do with the fact that was the ovary I ovulated from?
Earlier this week, my OB mentioned it again at the appointment, so it made me feel like it wasn't all that normal. She didn't seem super concerned or anything.
Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about? I should have asked for clarification but felt rushed.

I had one when I had my first ultrasound at 6 weeks. They kept an eye on it and measured it again when I had my 9 & 12 week ultrasound, but they haven't said anything about it since. It didn't seem like anything to worry about.

I'm pretty sure you always get a cyst on the ovary you ovulate from. I know my left ovary is responsible for my daughter because they pointed out the cyst at my first u/s. Totally normal!

I had one as well. They just kept an eye on it to make sure it got smaller and not bigger. If you still have questions I would call your doctor or the nurses line. Mine were always telling me to call if I had any questions or concerns.

I had one, it was quite painful (but the pain had started well before 8 weeks, so don't worry). It was no big deal, and the dr said it wasn't a risk to the pregnancy, just something to watch. It was fine and my daughter was born full term and healthy.

I had one on each ovary at my first ultrasound. When I asked my midwife about it she just brushed it off and said they would just check them next time. I think they were both gone by 20 weeks.

I mentioned some pain in the ovary I ovulated from during my first trimester, and my doctor assured me it's very normal. It's called the corpus luteal cyst and if I remember correctly, it sustains the hormone production until the placenta is mature enough to take over. I think it only becomes a problem if it bursts, but in that case you would know because it would be extremely painful.

I had one on at my first ultrasound and it was quite large. They did an extra ultrasound a few weeks later just to check on it. My OB wasn't worried after she saw it was a regular shape etc. I'm fuzzy on all the details. But it didn't cause any problems.

My friend had a really large one but it caused her pain and is actually how she found out she was pregnant (rushed to hospital with pains and got a surprise on the ultrasound). It went away on its own over time.

@MrsHansen82: I asked my husband and he said that's exactly what it is. I guess I wasn't listening so well at the appointment!

@cookiemomster: This. I've never had a cyst in my life. The RE saw it on my left side, and said you get it from the side you ovulate from, and it goes away once the placenta takes over. It was never painful at all. My OB asked at my next appointment was it painful, and it it was gone at my 12 week appointment.
