My sister is going to babysit on Sat, so we can have a date night. We don't want to be out super late since she has a 45 min drive home (she doesn't want to stay the night). So something around 3-4 hours.
We usually just go to dinner, but I wanted something different. The only thing I can think of is bowling. But that doesn't sound fun.

A movie and dinner? Meeting friends out for drinks? We usually do dinner and drinks at a bar or two afterwards. We aren't super creative, obviously.

@Mamaof2: I guess every time we go bowling it is with a big group and after we already had some cocktails. There aren't any mini golf places around here.

Do you have a drive-in theater? You could bring a picnic (by picnic I mostly mean wine) AND you would be able to provide your DH with a running commentary of the movie, if you so choose, from the privacy of your car!

Are you in or near a city? I like going to various one-off kind of events in my city- whether that's a lecture, or a concert, or some kind of themed party, or something like that. I feel like most big cities have some kind of newspaper or similar website with listings of events. I like browsing those before date nights!

our last date night we went bowling, but we had such a good time and it was a bring your own booz type of place. then we went out for some apps/drinks after!

DH and I just went to a place called Main Event this past weekend. They have bowling, pool, lazertag, and various carnival and video games. Kind of like a Dave and Busters type place where you can eat, drink, and play games. We played skee ball, and air hockey and ended up having a really good time,

@Smurfette: i agree with previous poster about one-off events in your area. Do you live in or around a big city? Here in New York we have TimeOutNYC which lists all different events going on and is great for getting ideas.
Also maybe like a cocktail or wine tasting event?

Bowling alley game night (our local one has things like skeeball, pool, etc)
Opera, Musical or Ballet (those would require quick dinner)
Dinner and drinks in the area where we lived when we dated
horseback riding lessons
baseball game
pottery painting
spa day (yes, I've had him do this before and he liked it!)

When my SO and I are short on date ideas, we check out sites like HowAboutWe (obviously the couples section, not the singles part!). We don't always buy the deals, which are kind of like Groupons, but we do regularly grab ideas from there
