@banana: that is pretty terrible!!! I don't have anything close to that kind of awful. He must have been so embarrassed!

When I was in grad school, a friend of mine wanted to set me up with her friend Tom. She said she told Tom all about me and he was really excited. He called me and we made plans for the next Saturday. Early in the week my friend and I ran into Tom and we met in person. I could tell right away that he wasn't interested in me. He called me later and said that he'd just gotten out of a relationship but we could still go out "as friends" if I wanted. I agreed and we went to the movies and dinner (sounds like a date to me!). The whole time he made it clear that it WASN'T a date by talking about girls he thought were cute, old girlfriends, etc. When we got back to my house he didn't even pull over and park to let me out, he just stopped in the middle of the street with the engine running! Looking back I wish I'd made some silly comment to mess with him about how that had been the best night of my life and I was in love ...

I met a guy while taking a shuttle on campus, and he asked me out for Valentine's Day. Knowing I was a vegetarian, he took me to a steak house, where I proceeded to have a very boring, very tasteless salad. We then went to see an action flick (his pick) that was super heavy on the bad acting, and pointless explosives. After it was over, he asked if I wanted to come back to the house he shared with roommates, or if I would prefer to get a room at a nearby inn so we could be alone. I laughed in his face, and went home.

Well this date didn't go very far but....a guy I met through a friend picked me up for our first date. On our way to dinner, he stopped at a convenience store. I watched him as he walked in and down the first aisle (completely visible as they were floor to ceiling windows). He proceeds to grab a box of condoms and check out. No soda. no gum. no gas. Just condoms.

I kindly asked him, and his presumptuous box of condoms, to take me home!

Lets just say it involved a very long-winded story about the testicular pain he had as a kid, and how they finally figured out that it was all psycho-somatic. o.O

I once went on a blind date in college, when I was still pretty new at dating, where the guy was WAY more into it than I was, and I realized afterwards I'm much too nice/smile and nod way too often for my own good, haha! The guy turned out to be kind of a deadbeat, but nice enough so I guess that since I was polite he thought we had some major chemistry? I told him I had a paper due so needed to go home right after dinner, and he proceeded to basically stalk me home and then forcibly make out with me outside my building. I finally got away, but in the next day he sent me like 7 different voicemails/ims/texts/etc, when I had clearly told him I was busy working on a paper. I finally answered one of his calls and told him I wasn't interested, and he was like "but I already broke up with all the other girls I was dating because I thought we had something!" ooops, sorry!

As a freshman in college a guy friend asked me to grab dinner. I assumed he meant dining hall and said yes. He apparently meant dinner out in town. I had a boyfriend from home. Sooooo awkward.

Well... probably my worst date ever (if it was even a date?) was when I was in high school and this guy I worked with asked me to come over to his house to hang out because he didn't have a car. So I went. When I got there we hung out in the garage where he showed me the car parts he had in his garage-- which he had stolen. He then got a page (yep, a page) that he returned and had someone come by to buy a (stolen I assume) cd player off him.

Needless to say, I did not hang out with him again.

I went on a blind date, but it was more like the first time meeting a guy that a mutual friend set up. We kind of knew each other as we've spoken on the phone and emailed each other.

He drives down to meet me and we meet at a public place near my house so we can take my car while I show him around town. Instantaneously, I knew I wasn't interested in him - he looked nothing like his picture and lied about his height and pretty much everything else, but I wanted to be nice and show him around town anyway. Maybe we can be friends?

So I drive around showing him some touristy spots and we end up picking a place to eat afterwards. Then says something along the lines about if I'm the type of person that just goes by looks. What? I was thrown off because we were laughing and having a seemingly good time, and all the sudden he gets so serious and why phrase it like that? So then I tell him that I'd like to be friends.

He goes NUTS! Calling me shallow and I think he even started to call me names! It happened to fast! I didn't really have time to react. He kept going off so I didn't have time to get angry. It was nuts. I said have a nice life and took off! I could not believe my "friend" set me up with such a psycho! It was supposed to be his gf's friend but OMG, talk about cray cray! I think he might have even tried sending me some scary powder in the mail afterwords! Seriously cray cray!

I went on a date (that I drove an hour and a half to get to) with a groomsman in my friends wedding that I was going to be a bridesmaid in. The dinner was nice enough and he paid, it was just little things like:
He ordered for me and said, "the lady will have..."
The dinner he ordered FOR me had calamari in it which I didn't like yet. I ended up tossing the calamari into the river.
After dinner, I wanted to swing on the swingset outside. He took that to mean I wanted him to stand behind the swing, lean over me and kiss me from behind. It was, hands down, the creepiest kiss I have ever received.

We didn't go on any more dates but in July, before the wedding, the bridal party was at the beach and he got so drunk, he projectile vomited. All. Over. Me.

haha...I love this thread. I am sorry to say I have had quite a few bad dates but this one was the worst.
In college, I went on a date with a guy I met at a bar a few nights earlier. I was smart enough to ask my roomate go along with me, just in case there was something weird. He proceeded to get drunk and then ask/demand to stay at our apartment for the night instead of driving home. I said no and asked him to leave, which he did. In the morning, I woke up to dozens of phone calls and text messages to please call him. Turns out he had been pulled over on the way home for having some illegal lights on his Jeep (should've been a red flag for me) and was in jail waiting to be bailed out! He had an expired license so they impounded his car and I had to drive him from jail to pick it up at a local garage. Needless to say, I never heard from him again....

These are awesome. The thing that strikes me is how most of them are from when we were so young that we just sat there through all of this ridiculousness! I'd like to think that today if I were single and in the same situation, I'd be out the door at the first weird moment. So congrats to all of us on our growth since then hahaha

I honestly didn't go on many dates before DH - but this one has to be the worst. There was a guy in college I had totally been crushing on. He finally asked me out on a group date, and I was totally excited. From the moment the date started, he was super akward. We went to a haunted corn maze, and instead of sticking with me, he kept sneaking up on me! Then, at the end, he picked me up and gave me the weirdest hug ever. We wound up going to a bonfire - and he wouldn't. shut. up. I got so sick of listening to him, I left the bonfire to go spend time with my brother!

I haven't been on too many dates, but the summer before my senior year of college I was determined to get a boyfriend (didn't want to graduate college without having ever had a serious boyfriend!) so I agreed to 3 dates with guys I was friendly with. I was in a different city for the summer so they were all guys I met in real life but communicated with online from afar until then.

Date #1: We meet at a mall, eat dinner at an Applebee's type place, he gives me a CD signed FOR me from my favorite artist (he had gone to her concert and gotten her to sign the CD for me). Super cool. The bill comes, he takes it and looks at it, and says "ok so should we split this?" Ok fine, I do not mind going dutch at all (or even paying) but at least he could have offered to pay. I don't let it get to me but we don't go out again. He's a sweet nice guy but there was no chemistry.

Date #2: This guy is really into me, telling me how beautiful I am, we look good together, etc etc. We walk along a pier and he shows me constellations and talks about how beautiful the stars are. Kinda sappy but whatever, I guess it's nice. He tells me he's taking me to his favorite restaurant. It's this Chinese seafood restaurant, nothing fancy, but the food is good. We have a nice dinner. Then the bill comes. He picks it up, looks at it, then hands it to me, excuses himself and goes to the bathroom! I literally sat there with the bill in my hand, frozen, thinking "I guess he wants me to pay"! After I paid for the (really cheap, and again, I don't mind paying, but I like for the guy to AT LEAST offer and put up a fight) dinner, he takes me to his friend's house where a bunch of guys are hanging out. I sit on a couch making chit chat with one guy who doesn't really appear to know anyone either, while the other guys all hang out and talk. Eventually I tell the guy I am going home and I make my way out of there and home on my own. I left a bag with stuff I had bought earlier that day at the apartment in my hurry to get out... and never got it back. It was a scarf and a CD and I still get upset thinking about how I lost those!!

Date #3: By now I'm pretty steamed at the state of men these days and how my willingness to go on these dates with guys I'm not even really interested in has panned out so badly for me... but I'm pretty excited about this third guy. He's so cute, so nice on the phone and seems really sweet. We set up a time and place to meet (he plans to call and leave a voicemail while I'm at work with the location to meet him for dinner after I'm done) and HE NEVER SHOWS UP. I wait around for hours and call his phone over and over, but it keeps going straight to voicemail (and his voicemail box is full so I can't leave a message). Finally I go home. Two days later I see him online and he doesn't message me. I message him, playing dumb, and he proceeds to tell me he's going back to his school campus the next morning at 8am. I say something to the extent of "you know we were supposed to meet up on Monday?" and he responds "oh yeah, right, uhh.." and proceeds with three or four excuses as to why he couldn't meet up, and his phone was broken, etc etc etc.

Big surprise twist ending?? Date #3 was Wagon Sr. ...!!!

My highschool boyfriend took me to Pizza Hut for our 2nd year anniversary. It wasn't THAT bad, but I was expected something a bit better for 2 years especially since he made it sound like he had something awesome planned.
