Then decide to have another?
OY! We were 100% two and through. Gave away and sold ALL the baby gear, with the exception of a few things (..strollers, pack and plays, gates, space saver high chair, boppy, infant to toddler rocker).
But gone are the swing, exersaucer/jumperoo, baby clothes and toys, etc.
Now we're bouncing back and forth between the idea of having another in a year or two. Ugh. I'm kicking myself for not waiting a few more months - I literally got rid of it all in the spring!

Yup, me!! I gave away everything like the DAY #2 stopped using it, and my maternity clothes as soon as I was back in normal stuff. I'm actually not that upset about the big stuff since I think we'd buy SO much less now that we know what we would need, but I'm bummed I got rid of all my maternity clothes as I had a kick-ass maternity wardrobe!! We are still on the fence about #3 but I'm hoping soon!

Maybe you will be able to get hand me downs from other people or the people you gave away to when the time comes?
I give away stuff from DD1 already, but it's too a close friend so she's giving them right back to me when DD2 arrives. I plan to just keep giving them out and thinking if we someone want a 3rd, someone will be able to help us out!

@HappyBaker: SERIOUSLY. Lol I forgot about maternity and nursing clothes!! My only consolation is that LLR is pregnancy AND postpartum friendly so I can at least just wear a lot of my wardrobe. I'm still irritated on principle though hahah.
@snowjewelz: unfortunately the gear I sold on the local BST site. So I could just keep my eyes peeled for newer ones!

@sorrycharlie: Good call on the LLR! I was SO SO SO 100% done after DS that a few people who have heard me even mention a #3 recently have thought I am completely nuts!

We knew we were going to have a second, but I thought we would have a bigger gap, so I got rid of all the maternity clothes, baby clothes 0-12mo, swaddles, extra blankets, toys, etc. I did keep all the big stuff though... Totally kicking myself when we found out we were having boy #2

@sorrycharlie: Yep, I'm in the same boat. We sold pretty much everything, but we are moving in a month, so I figured I would hate storing and moving if we weren't sure. I figured I'll just buy or borrow the bigger gear if we have another baby in a year!

We are 90% sure we are done, and still got rid of all the baby gear. We figured we will just cross that bridge when we get there. There have been so many improvements to gear, so some new things wouldn't be horrible.

We got rid of everything and may or may not foster or adopt in the future. I figure I can buy everything used again and it really won't cost that much. Plus, in a few years the styles will all be new and have fancy new features and I will want to try out the newer stuff anyway 
We are in a small space and I just didn't see the need to hang onto everything if we weren't for sure we would need it.

We got rid of a lot after #2. We were considering a third but it would be a ways off.
The third came sooner than we thought. The worst was that DS was still in his crib and using his nursery stuff so we had to buy to basically set up another nursery. I got most of the "gear" at a consignment sale for about $200.
Thankfully a friend gave me back some maternity clothes but I spent about another $200 for work clothes (maybe not quite that much).
I still had one box of baby clothes that was pretty neutral so we just added a few pieces.

We're not holding on to any baby stuff, but if our finances were to change we would maybe have a third. Right now I can't imagine three preschool bills, and were in a two bedroom house so we'd need to move to a larger one (and we just moved here!!) so it'd definitely be a way off anyway! Edit, especially because I can't imagine going through another pregnancy right now! My younger one is 10m.

I was so excited to ditch all the big baby gear after DD3 finishes with it this year...and now DH has started saying, " Oh, I think maybe we'll have 4! We have space to store it....."
Arghhhh!!!! I may get rid of it in secret and borrow from friends/buy used if we ever do need it again. As time goes on, I am WAY less nostalgic about wanting to have pictures of all of our kids in the same bouncer/swing. The only thing I care about is our (super sweet) Moses basket that I will keep absolutely forever.
