The weirdest thing wakes me up several times a night now - my hands are either numb or super stiff and achy! They feel almost arthritic. The only thing that has helped so far is getting up for the day or DH rubbing them REALLY hard. Did anyone else have this? What helped you?

I had carpal tunnel for the last three months of my pregnancy. It was definitely worse at night. My fingers got numb and tingly too, in addition to being achy, and the only thing that helped was rocking my head side to side (stretching neck touching ear to shoulder) which opened up the nerves a bit to relieve the numbness.
It definitely sucks though. Finally went away about 3 weeks pp.

Yup, I've got this right now. I spoke to my midwife about it at my last appointment and she recommended vitamin b complex and splinting my wrists at night. I've started taking vitamin b, but haven't noticed a difference. Might just be something we have to wait out. I'm 38 weeks now, so hopefully not too much more waiting!

I've had this since about Week 20 but haven't really found anything that helps. I try to keep my hands elevated and not clenched when I sleep but I don't think it really does anything...

Yes! It is awful. I bought a carpal tunnel brace off amazon and have used it the past three nights and it's worked like a charm. It was worth the $15 for sure!
ETA: This is the one I bought.

My friend did. She tried a brace for a while but it didn't work well for her. It went away when the baby was born!

Yes! Ahh it was so annoying. It didn't let up until 6 weeks after pregnancy either.

Yep. I've had carpel tunnel for a few months now and the achy joints started about 1.5 weeks ago. Argh.

I would wake up with achy fingers/joints for most of the third tri. My OB said it would go away once I gave birth. She was right, thank goodness.

I got carpal tunnel postpartum in both wrists and bought the same brace as @rahlyrah. I sleep in them every night. Sexayyy.

Yes and only at night!! They are so achy and I have to rub my knuckles and stretch them out when I wake up. Hope this goes away...

Yes, it lasted for 7 months PP with my first pregnancy. I had it again during my 2nd and 3rd trimester of my last pregnancy but it went away around 38 weeks.

I developed carpel tunnel around week 32 and I ended up with very little feeling in both hands at all times, which made even the most mundane of tasks (peeling an orange, cutting my nails, etc.) impossible. I essentially lost use of my hands, and it was one of the worst parts of my pregnancy. My hands were significantly worse at night, and the only relief I got at night was wearing wrist splints - if I didn't, my hands would ache and be in pain all night long, and I wouldn't be able to sleep. Thankfully, I noticed improvement right away after giving birth, and within 2-3 weeks I was completely back to normal.

i didn't get it while pregnant, but totally did (so painful!) post partum. i made it worse by using my hands and wrists too hard when holding the baby for breastfeeding (doing cross cradle hold and simultaneously hand expressing at the same time. i should have switched to regular cradle hold after getting him latched on/milk let down.). im going to be more careful this time!

Yes on the stiff fingers! I would wake up with them curled like an old person's.

Got it after they were born. And have stiff fingers now. Massage and wrist guards help! My hubby says its the nerves from holding my heavy babies.

I don't know if it was carpel tunnel, but my fingers got very achy at the end. I had to constantly flex and massage and move them around. It went away after I gave birth and my fingers are perfectly fine now.

Mine only went away after a few weeks after LO was born. Nothing helped

YES! it was terrible. I hated the pins-and-needles tingling that would wake me up in the middle of the night. And my hands were so swollen.
It did go away pretty quickly after giving birth. -
Yes! Unfortunately, the only thing that really helped was having LO.

I had this really badly. My fingers could barely bend to hold a pen. My ob recommended resting my hands in a natural position (the handshake) position to increase blood flow. It went away a week or two after I delivered.
