On the radio this morning I heard an ad for finding out if someone died in your house because apparently you need to know!
No thanks -I am already scaredy cat - I don't want to know!
Would you pay to find this out?
would you NOT buy a house you loved if someone died in it?

No, but my Aunt is big into spirirts and such and she would always say it's not just the house it's the land.......super creepy and always kinda stuck with me....lol

Well we were casually told that the old lady who we bought house from's husband died in living room. I would rather not have known that but doesn't freak me out!

Yes! We bought the house as an estate sale when a 100 year old woman passed away. She died in our bedroom. It really hasn't bothered us, we think it's a neat story!

LoL someone died in one of the houses we lived in when were kids. Nothing happened except for me driving my sister nuts. In "his" room, there was a "help" buzzer that connected to my sister's room. I used to scare her by buzzing it at random times.

Someone was shot and killed on the front porch of the house I grew up in (abusive ex-husband was stalking the lady that lived there and she shot him). It never really bothered me, but I would tease my younger siblings about it.
If I knew someone died in the house I currently lived in, I don't think it would be a big deal. But it would be one of those things you dwell on when you can't sleep late at night...

A woman went missing in my last house... she has never been found 20 years later. My dad found some clothes and a purse in the basement at one point and the cops had to come dig up basement and use radar to see if there was a body buried down there. CREEPY.

Someone died in my parents' house. I'm not aware of anyone dying in our current house. It's over 100 years old though, so it wouldn't shock me.

Our house is 100 years old too so I wouldn't be surprised.
I also think someone might have died in the house across the street last night. There are some crazy idiots there who I think make moonshine and go CRAZY every few months. Last night was one of those times. Twice. Bad bad news. Someone did die there a few years ago of alcohol poisoning.

We're the first people to live in our house, so no haha, but our condo was built sometime before/around 1900, so I wouldn't be surprised if over the century someone died in there.
This may sound hokey, but both my dad and I are “spirit sensitive” (I know, I know). When I was in high school we moved and as a family we were looking at homes. We looked at one place that my mom LOVED, but as soon as my dad and I went upstairs we were like oh hells no! The bathroom upstairs gave us the creeps, in a major way. Just a feeling of total unease. Come to find out, yup, someone was killed in that bathroom. Needless to say, my parents passed on that house!

Errr I have no idea, I guess I don't really care though. Plus, our house is completely renovated from top to bottom so there's really nothing original/old in it anymore.

I know in my state you have to disclose if someone does of non natural causes. I know the man who lived the house before us moved because his wife died, not sure if it was in the house or not and don't wanna know!

not that i know of. but our old apartment building has a fairly crazy story... and today is actually the 29th anniversary of it happening. a little girl was put in the elevator by her parents to go down to the pool. i think relatives were waiting on another floor. and the girl just disappeared. she has never been found and i think about it ALL THE TIME. just happened to hear it was the anniversary listening to the radio this morning.

One of my friends growing up lived in a house where Henry David Thoreau died in the living room. I thought that was cool.

I've only ever lived in brand new houses since I was about 9 so I'm assuming (and hoping!) that no one has died in any of my homes

@loki: OK so I just did some googling (because you were freaking me out!). I guess the girl walked out of her apartment to go to the elevator to meet a friend in the lobby. So her parents never actually saw her get on the elevator. So she could have been abducted in the hallway. Or run away, apparently a while later a notebook was found in her room with a part where she wrote "I'm going to disappear". Either way, still really scary!

No one has died in our current house, because we built it. The former owners of my parents' house both died in it within 3 months of each other and it always freaked me out. They were old, so it wasn't anything sinister...but still. The first month we lived in the house, lights would come on whenever there was a bump or a thump. It was terrifying. My dog jumped off the bed one night and knocked over my nightstand, and my bedroom light and hall light came on immediately. I was sooooo scared, and then we realized - those people had installed Clap Lights! hahahahaha! Clap on, clap off.

@MamaMoose: whooooa i didn't know those details!!! i just got goosebumps. ya i didn't actually think she disappeared IN the elevator, i assumed someone on another floor grabbed her on the way down or something. i heard the story from people who lived in the building who lived there at the time! and it's pretty weird, a lady i work with brought it up last week... then i heard about the anniversary this morning so it's like it's haunting me! i will always wonder what happened to her. apparently they're reopening the case or something??? i'm gonna do some googling today too!

I don't know if anyone has died in my house, but when we were looking for a house, we visited one that was an estate sale and I'm pretty sure the old lady had died in it. It was a shrine to the 1950's and so, so creepy.

The house I grew up in was built in 1796, so I know many people died in it. But it was handed down through the family so it's not like my parents weren't going to take it.
We know the first owner died there (not sure if it was inside or outside the house). And he's buried in the neighbor's front yard.
My brother lives there now. My father died in what is now the kids' school room. But there's nothing creepy at all about it. At least not to me or my brother's family.

The husband of the woman who we bought the house from had died two years earlier, but I don't know if it was in the house or not.
At my parents' house, the former owner died in their bedroom and his ashes were buried in the garden. They had to dig him up before closing! I always used to scare my brother by saying there was a dead guy buried in the yard and he was going to come back to life and crawl in his bedroom window. What a mean sister!
It'd only be a deal breaker for me if someone was murdered in the house. As a kid, I once had a dream about a woman in a house down the street peeking out the basement window at me. I told my mom about it and she (later, when I was an adult) told me that it freaked her out to no end because the woman who had lived there was murdered by her boss, and no one had ever told me about that. Probably I overheard something about it, or something, but if I were my mom I would have been freaked out too!

I wouldn't be surprised if someone died in our current house, it's almost 90 years old.
Several years after moving out of one of my childhood homes we were told that a women committed suicide in one of the upstairs rooms though. Strangely enough, it was one of the rooms that creeped my sister and I out. It was our playroom, but I rarely wanted to be in the room by myself.

@Shutterbug: Our friends bought a house where a man murdered his wife, and they got a ton of house for their money. Its a nice house, but I'd be waaaaaaay too freaked out, especially since it was recent. What if they ever want to move?! Who would want that house?!

Apparently someone hanged himself in the basement of the house I lived in when I was very little. It WAS creepy as hell down there
