I'm waiting around at 40w3d... I haven't had any signs of labor, no mucus plug or anything like that. Just wondering who out there was similar and then was all of the sudden in labor?
I'm just feeling so pessimistic, feeling like I am headed for an induction, even though it's only been 3 days!

My son was born at 40/3.
I felt nothing, saw nothing and sensed nothing! I was just asleep and usually I didn't wake up until 9am but that random morning, I was julted awake by a huge contraction at 7. I had my son in my arms less than 12h later.

i didn't really have any signs --- I think I lost parts of my mucus plug but that was two weeks prior to my due date! then at 40+1 at 3 in the afternoon all of a sudden I just started having contractions! there was no other indication it was coming! you'll be there soon!!! hang in there

@sslm: I did ask my midwife this question and she said a lot of women don't have any signs that labour is imminent...until labour just starts!

I was sure I was going to hit my induction but went into labor 2 days before (day after my due date). I'd lost my mucus plug way before but made no progress cervical check wise for 2 weeks and had no intuition/inclination that labor was going to start. Good luck!

@sslm: Well I did lose my mucus plug but that was over a week before so I don't really consider it a sign of labor in my case. My labor pretty much came out of no where. At 9:30pm I started to feel like I had to go number 2, so I went to the bathroom and went and as soon as I was done I had a contraction... and then 4 minutes later I had another. They never slowed down and baby was born at 9:46am the next day!

I lost my mucus plug, LO had dropped, etc. way before I went into labor. I think it was about 3 weeks. So I kept waiting and waiting and nothing. Even my doctor kept telling me that she didn't think she'd see me at my next apt... but I'd always make it. They even scheduled an induction for me.
But LO came on her due date. Apparently she knew that's when she was supposed to come, and she did I think the unknown was the worst for me, I just wanted to know when she'd come!

Looking back, I think the way I felt the day before labor was a pretty big sign. But, it wasn't a textbook symptom. As far as those signs, I had none. Was woken by a contraction at 2am.

I had braxton hicks for weeks but NOTHING else... no spotting, mucus plug, etc. at all. Monday I had my weekly appointment (3 days before my due date) and my cervix was firmly closed. "soft" but I think my OBGYN was just saying that to make me feel better! I went into labor just 2 days later on my due date and the reason I knew it was the real thing was because I saw one TINY TINY TINY chunk of blood when I wiped after going to the bathroom. Literally 1/2 a millimeter. I had not seen so much as a SPOT of anything darker than totally clear during the entire pregnancy. Had my baby the next morning!
P.S. didn't lose my mucus plug or had my water break at all... they broke my water after the epidural and I must have lost the plug then.

Absolutely no sign I was going to go into labor. Then just woke up early in the morning with cramping and that was the start! I was 38w3d tho so I wasn't expecting it. Hope it happens soon for you!

yup with both kids. contractions just started bam and were about 5 min apart from the beginning and i had to head the the hospital very quickly.

Thank you EVERYONE! This is making me feel so much better!!! Everyone just keeps asking if there have been any signs and stuff and it's bumming me out to have to keep saying no!

i didn't have any signs either until my water broke one morning and contractions started almost immediately afterwards.
it's so weird at the end of pregnancy, wondering whether this day or this hour could be the one!

I didn't have anything at all (not even BH) until 4am on Sunday when I woke up feeling kind of off. I spent the day on the couch just crampy and tired until
4pm Sunday and BOOM - contraction.
4am Monday - BOOM BAD contractions!
11:49am Monday - Baby.

Yep! With my son, it felt like I was going to be pregnant forever and I was oddly comfortable. I lost my mucus plug, my water broke and I was in active labor, all within 3 hours.

@sslm: thank you for starting this thread! It's making me feel much better. I'm only 38 weeks, but I'm dilated to 3 and my stupid midwife keeps telling me that she doesn't think she'll see me next week. Ugh! It's making me so antsy!!

No signs here. At 39 weeks woke up to pee and started having cramps. Water broke a few hours later.

I lost my mucus plug a week or two, little by little, before my water broke. I went to the hospital not having contractions or anything.

My cousin had NO signs! In fact she just had a check up a couple days prior and at that point nothing was happening. DH and I were hanging out with her that evening and still nothing. We got a call the next morning that about an hour after we left her water broke and she had her baby by the next morning.

At 40 weeks, 4 days my mucus plug fell out and all of a sudden my contractions started.

No mucus plug or water breaking. I went into labor when I had contractions after work. Only when the contractions became really bad and noticeable was when we headed to the hospital. I lost my mucus plug when they checked me the first time in triage. They broke my water when I was 6 cm.

For my 2nd I didn't have any signs until labor and then started having contractions. by the time I got to the hospital 1.5 hr later I was at 8cm. I was 10 days from due date.

Me! Well...sort of! I had been cramping a bit on and off all day, but that had been going on for 2 weeks every few days. The day I went into labor, a contraction got me out of bed at 10:30. They started coming 5-7 minutes apart after that. LO was born at 2:30 the next afternoon!

I had NOTHING at 40 weeks - they couldn't even do a membrane sweep because I was only, like, half a cm dilated. 41 was the week everything happened; lost moucous plug, contractions, dilation, etc. LO was born 41+1.

I ended up being induced so I never really had any natural signs of labor.
HOWEVER, I was 5 cm dilated at my 39 week appointment. This means I went an entire week without feeling a single contraction and I was already HALF WAY dilated. Crazy stuff!

I had absolutely no signs of labour. Not once did I have a braxton hicks contraction or anything. Then 13 days before my due date my water broke, after that the contractions started and 12 hours later DS was here.

oh honey! I don't envy you. I went into labor spontaneously at 41 w 2 days (although I had two cervical sweeps which caused cramping, etc). I don't think I lost my mucus plug until I went into labor. I never felt braxton hicks if I had them. Good luck!

@sslm: I lost what I think was my mucus plug at 38 weeks. No other signs, not a single contraction, until I was 40/1 and my water broke. Had a baby less than 12 hours later!

I didn't have signs. I woke up early that morning with bloody show and contractions 3-4 minutes apart. Two hours later called the midwife, told to go to hospital and was 7-8cm. You can have hope!
