We won't be telling anyone for a while about baby #2, but I feel like once you already have a LO then it's not as "exciting" the second time around. I'm not sure if this is really true or not. Did people seem to be more excited about your first pregnancy vs your other pregnancies?

I've only had the one pregnancy so far, but with my SIL, people seemed more, or just as, excited with her second pregnancy! She had a HUGE baby shower for baby #2. My guess is because baby #2 was more "planned" than baby #1, but I'm not really sure.
I'm guessing people will be less excited for our baby #2 though.

From my perspective, a person on the receiving end of the joyous news, it's not as exciting. Just being honest.

It seems like our family and friends were more excited for our first. He was the first grandchild on both sides. LO2 was more or less expected from most people, and there wasn't as much of an element of surprise. I also don't expect to have a baby shower for my second. I love hearing about all pregnancies, whether it's the first or fifth.

So far telling family about this new baby has been meh compared to when we got pregnant with P. it's actually been really disappointing & has caused me to not wanna tell anyone else. Boo

My second pregnancy was my fourth child and I think people just thought I was crazy, most people were not as excited or involved as my first pregnancy. My parents and in laws were excited about their new grand baby and my sister was crossing her fingers for a girl so that's what really mattered to me.

I've only told a few close friends and had mixed reactions. Generally people are really excited, but they know my DH lives and works out of town and 2 under 2 will be killer for me. Everyone has been VERY surprised nonetheless!

@Bao: I think this is true, most people get all the attention for baby number one, then after that its a bit muted. I only have one LO but I am not expecting the same amount of gifts and excitement when we have number 2
I also think it depends on how close together they are. If its within 2 years after the first one, most people dont get very excited, but its been 3 or more years then its a bit different

Oh, it's totally less exciting for everyone. It was way less exciting and interesting for DH and I! Doesn't bother me at all- I think it makes total sense. I'd rather have friends and family interested in the kid we have that's here and enjoys the attention, rather than the one on the way. Now that I'm very obviously visibly pregnant, people ask about it, but it's just less a focus of my life than pregnancy was with #1.
Once #2 is actually here, I have no doubt that he'll get plenty of attention, but i think it's natural that the pregnancy itself isn't as big a deal.
