I followed all the pregnancy guidelines with my first. I haven't been as strict this time and I've had sushi a few times and more caffeine.

uh, yeah. mommy shame. I was SO not consistent with my prenatal vitamins (even though I switched to gummies!) and I consumed caffeine (stayed within the recommended guidelines though) and sushi (only from places I trusted, aka expensive places, and only a few bites) and alcohol (just a sip here and there). Oh and I did have deli meat quite a few times.

Sushi, oysters, decaf coffee, soft cheeses, a glass of champagne.....yep, I broke these "rules," (with my doc's blessing) and loved it!

@mrs. wagon: I was also terrible with my vitamins, the shame! I have no idea why it was so hard for me.
I also ate subway once a week. I just figured that the subway near my work was so so busy, there was no way the stuff wasn't fresh. I also craved it like crazy the first pregnancy and was so tortured... couldn't resist the 2nd time around.

Coffee, sushi, raw cookie dough, sub sandwiches, not taking prenatals...I did all that with this one.

yup! and my 2nd baby has less/no problems even though i didn't follow anything (ate sushi, rare steak, oysters, egg yolk, caffeine, deli meats, etc).
my 1st baby had eczema/skin problems and was semi-colicky and had acid reflux and has a pb allergy. my 2nd baby seems to have zero issues so far!

I broke them all the first time, I don't plan on changing much when the second time around happens. When I felt good enough to have something, I ate it. Everything in moderation!

I have done things pretty much the same with my 3 girls- limited caffeine, no deli meat or alcohol, no sushi (I don't like it anyways) I figured these weren't huge sacrifices and completely not worth taking the small risk of something going wrong.
