Did you make a decision to stop picking LO1 up before LO2(+) arrived?
I'm 36 weeks and have so far been able to hold/pick up LO (27 months) - as long as she isn't throwing a tantrum. My doctor is fine with it so haven't worried about it. But I just thought about how I won't be able to lift her once baby arrives. Should I stop picking her up now so she doesn't freak out when baby brother comes?

I stopped picking up my DD as soon as I found out I was pregnant. She weighs about 20kg and is a tall girl, so I'm not risking hurting my back. Generally she will only ask to be picked up if we are shopping and her legs get tired, so I try to avoid long shopping trips alone with her.

I stopped when I was about 5 months along. DS was close to 3 yo and nearly 40lbs and I would have Braxton Hicks contractions every time I picked him up.

No... my kids are 26 months apart, so I picked her up pretty much til near the end since she still really needed/wanted me a lot.

I never stopped picking up LO1 - she was 19 months old when LO2 was born so she still needed to be picked up a lot, not to mention she was still sleeping in a crib so there was all of that lifting too. I didn't stop picking her up after having LO2 either. I was home a few hours after I delivered LO2 and the first thing I did was scoop up LO1 and give her a big hug. I never had any issues with picking her up at any point in time....
Just out of curiosity, why won't you be able to lift your first LO after the baby arrives?

Mine are 26 months apart, it never occurred to me to stop picking up my oldest. So I did without incident before and after #2 arrived, I was just slower and more careful when I wasn't feeling my best.

I did. She was killing my sciatic nerve and always wanted to be carried everywhere. I was up 50 pounds, plus her 25, and it was TOO MUCH. Eventually I got her to be cool with holding my hand. She was 25 months old when T was born

Nope. I carried my LO to the very end, and they're 19 months apart.
Now, at 22 weeks pregnant with #3, I carry both kids (both my 3 year old and my 18 month old).

We didn't and he is 4 years old (only 31# because he is tiny). We do a lot of baby wearing so I did that with him. I worried that if we took all of these things away because if the baby he would resent the baby. He loved his baby (she is 5 weeks old now). Just today I passed the baby to Grammy so I could carry him after he got hurt. He still needs it sometimes. He does a lot more on his own and a few times today I had to tell him I could not hold him because he would squish his baby (in a carrier in front).

My girls are 28m apart and it was pretty impossible to not pick her up. If it was a particularly tiring day I'll ask her to sit on my lap on the couch instead.

I haven't completely stopped picking her up (27 months and I'm 31 weeks) but I've cut down a lot and make her climb up on things herself (ex. Car seat). She's 28/29 lbs and heavy for me and even though my dr said it was ok, I shouldn't overly do it and strain myself.

I greatly reduced pick ups towards the end, but only because I wanted her to be ok with not being held when the baby came. Mine are 2 years 9 months apart so she really didn't need to be carried much anyway.

No. Mine are 15 months apart so it was impossible to not pick him up. I was never alone(I had a c-section) with #1, after #2 was born for the first two weeks so I didn't pick him up, but once my help was gone and back to work I had no choice but to pick him up.

I still carry my girl, although I don't wear her anymore. She's 2.5 but very light so it's not a problem when we're at home but when we're out I get comments from people telling me to be careful. I won't be able to lift her for a few weeks after birth either (hoping for planned c-section) but don't want to stop early.

I did but it was because i have back problems. So i stopped picking her up right around when she started walking. When she asks me to pick her up i always tell her i can't because my back hurts and she is ok with it. Then i come down and give her a big hug.

My hips and pelvis are killing me at 23 weeks, so I don't pick her up as much. Carrying 23 lbs on one hip gets really painful after awhile. I'm sure it will just get worse: we'll have to see how it goes!

I didn't stop before giving birth. DD1 was 23 months and 30 pounds. I wore her daily until 35 weeks.
I took a few weeks break holding her after DD2 arrived (RCS) but was back at it as soon as I was cleared. Still carry her when she'll let me.
I'll be very sad when I can't carry her anymore.

Mine were 20 months apart. I never totally stopped but did cut down at 9 months. I was just tired so I couldn't carry him long and up the stairs.

Ds is 2.5, I'm 31 weeks. I try not to overdo it, but can't help picking him up when he asks, he doesn't ask too often!

I'm only ten weeks so I've got a long way to go. I still pick her up a lot (25 lbs, 22 months) but I am making an effort to let her climb the stairs more. We live on basically the third floor of our condo building. It's so much faster for me to carry her up the stairs but I know that's going to get harder as we both get bigger, and once the new baby is here I'll have the baby or car seat to carry. So I'm purposely letting her climb herself more often so she will get better at it. And hopefully faster.

Mine are 22 months apart and I never stopped picking him up! I did try to encourage him to do the stairs while holding my hand and taught him to step out of the bathtub too.

Yes, but LO is 3 and weighs 34 pounds. I still pick her up occasionally, but have greatly cut back. I also will be having a c section, so I am preparing her for after baby recovery also.

I still pick up LO for bedtime and naps (in crib, haven't transitioned yet). He's almost 3 years old. I'm 39 weeks pregnant tomorrow.

Currently 25 weeks pregnant and have a 16 mo. She loves to be in arms and I think not picking her up will not teach her much at this point so up she comes.
I do make her wait sometimes. I think working on her patience is important for when baby arrives.

I did to an extent. Sometimes there just wasn't a choice but say, we were playing her sandbox but she wanted to go swing I would tell her I could hold her hand and she could walk but I wasn't going to carry. Sometimes she threw a fit but she got the Message eventually.

I carry mine up until the end (in fact, my water broke with my second while I was carrying my first!). At least I never make the conscious decision to not carry them.
